Here are the results of my experiment...

Apple Safari:
- Webp: Wont show
- aPNG: Shows but wont animate
Google Chrome:
- Webp: Shows and Animates
- aPNG: Shows but doesn't animate (used a plugin to make it work)
Mozilla Firefox: (natevly)
- Webp: Wont show
- aPNG: Shows and animates
Internet Explorer:
- Wants to block Popups
- Wants ActiveX permissions
- Warns of Firewall error
- Webp: Wont show
- aPNG: Shows but wont animate
I think ill stick to GIF until all the browsers (besides Internet Explorer) support them.

On the actual design of the signature, if this is meant to be Sakura (cherry blossoms), you may want to have some that are in focus (further back, smaller) and the closer ones out of focus (as they are now). Your animated overlay currently looks really really flat.
