FGunZ Update // January 16, 2016

Freestylers,

We have a little update for you today, it mostly fixes some bugs and other issues in FGunZ.

• Reworked the FPS limiter to use less CPU per frame. The FPS counter now accepts decimals. (Thanks S1lent!)
• Fixed an issue with a variable that may have caused spikes every so often. (The "FPS issue")
• GunZ Timers should now have a more accurate timer. This fixes smoke grenades. (Thanks S1lent!)
• The MP3 player should now be more accurate for time.
• General performance pass. You should notice less CPU usage in some cases and increased framerates under almost every case (except Challenge Quest, this still needs a performance pass)
• The range of the "Zombie Claw", the dagger that zombies use in the infected game-mode, has been slightly increased.
• Some optimizations have been made to the database, certain actions in FGunZ should now be faster.
• The bonus XP rate of the Cat In The Hat and Event XP Ring now actually give *1.25 bonus XP.
• Rocket explosion effect has been changed.

Note: Since the rocket explosion texture has been changed, this means the explosion of grenades have been changed as well.

Feels like a solid update. Plays really well now. The explosion change is great. Thanks all.

The smoke grenade fix affects normal nades too btw. Should be a tiny poof of smoke after the main explosion as maiet intended. Hard to notice if you dont look for it haha.

I'm glad that the original explosions is back.

Oh well, now I'm getting the fps spikes. Drops for 1 sec then goes back up. I didn't get the drops before the latest update. :(

Same as mine i talked to Hoxton the other day and he said update all my drivers and chipsets. Still my fps spikes every 15 to 20 seconds, I hope this update will fix dem fps spike. Anyways Thanks to Dave :)

I had the same FPS issue on my laptop before the update, this update fixed all of that on my laptop so I'm not sure what's causing it in your case.

Was having fps spikes yesterday right after the update but today is fine. Might have been some other app hogging up my resources tho, idk. I will post if it happens again, but it was a smooth 250 for me today (for the most part, see below).
It still drops 10fps in duel tho, after someone gets a kill, but other modes seem to work fine for me (tested cw and gungame), you guys might want to look into that.

Edit: Found a bug - the FPS limiter always resets to 0,0 (unlimited) upon restarting the game. A little bit annoying. Also, the damage counter does not count rocket damage (dunno if intended)

We're looking into the issue at the spawn, although it shouldn't be that big of a deal to the players.
We're also aware of the FPS limit not being set correctly.

It is rare but if you get spikes try restarting the game and the limiter will rerun the evaluation it performs when the game first starts. Normally the spikes you experienced are from something hogging the cpu, so you were correct. I watched someone stream yesterday and they didnt have any spikes though, so it is doing its job properly.

for me and alot of ppl its unplayable :/ too many fps drops every 2-3 secs

Set it to 0 and use Dxtory then if you have something hogging your cpu.

i dont have spikes just get a better pc.

Fixed my fps drops by ocing my shitty graphic card (GT520..)

What is your FPS limiter set to? There's currently a bug that makes it so the FPS limit resets each time you restart the game.

250fps, only firefox running on the background

Crazy Screen laggs since this update.. cannot play properly..

still getting fps problems and i know its not my gpu or graphics card.

There's currently a little bug which makes it impossible for GunZ to save the FPS limit variable.
If you check your FPS limit settings and set it to 250 or something, is it fine then?

naw bro, i set it 250 get lower, i set it 333 i get lower. I have a really decent set up so cant be my pc. its the server. so ye..

FPS has nothing to do with the server, if any it's the client.
I personally don't have FPS problems along with most of the other players, I'm sure you can imagine that it will be tricky for us to find out what it is causing on your client/PC.

yea i understand just putting it out there lol, and also can you please remove station and ruin from cw maps? like it seems like its almost all we get for cw. are the % of getting those maps higher? can we do a toll? im pretty sure a lot cw'ers hate those maps.

Maps like Ruin and Station only have half the chance (0.5) of Mansion to be chosen. E.g. If Mansion has a chance of 10%, Ruin only has a chance of 5%. This means that other maps actually come up twice as much.

MapID = 0: Mansion, 2: Station (0.5 chance), 3: Prison II (0.5 chance), 4: Battle Arena, 5: Town, 7: Ruin (0.5 chance), 8: Island (0.5 chance), 9: Garden, 10: Castle (0.5 chance), 11: Factory, 12: Port, 13: Lost Shrine (0.5 chance), 23: WeaponShop (0.5 chance)

There's no way at the moment, it's a little bug in the client. It will be fixed in the next update.

While the game is not running add:

<FRAMELIMIT>333</FRAMELIMIT>

Under <ETC> in config.xml

It saves it for me.

I was going to but I accidently restarted my client right after since I was with a trial. It's been occurring a lot more recently today, I'll save it once it reoccurs.
