Ping Limitation Room-tags

TL;DR AT THE BOTTOM

I propose there be tags for ping limitation based on the roommaster during room creation's ping, I'm pretty sure every other server has this already except this one.


"Why would you want this if there's antilead?" For gladiator, antilead doesn't help. Antilead ruins gladiator, as gladiator needs some lead just for the way the gameplay is in general. Without it, recoils become 100% luck, and angles become unblockable; not to mention, things like massives because a 50:50 gamble purely. I'm pretty sure antilead is disabled for swordplay anyway, no? That could be another server I'm thinking of l0l.

"but you can just kick them!" so they can come back on another character to spite everybody, because let's face it, people get upset when they're kicked from rooms. Not to mention, if you make a room with two 200 ping players in it, they won't kick each other for just having high ping; on top of the fact that you only get one kick.

"But that'd limit too many people!" no, the way I propose it is: [P ###], where # would be how much ping the person can be. If they are 120 to the first roommaster, they get kicked/can't join. So you can pick-and-choose what demographic gets in (I'm not sure if that's the same way for other servers as I didn't play much of them, though I'm pretty sure most just work by ping to server)

The population is largely foreign, sure, but there are also a lot of NA/EU who only want to play with NA/EU. When you put "NA/EU" in your title, that pretty much translates to "BR/SG" because that's all that join, either out of ignorance or being le epik trollerz XDDD. There's really no reason NOT to do this, as I'm pretty sure the NA/EUW players to others ratio is relatively in the favor of the latter, and it's not like they'll quit the game because of it as there are some that won't care still.

Most players I've spoken to said they'd like it or not care, as there's no real drawbacks to doing something like this. I mean, even most other P2P/ping-reliant games have similar systems implemented. Halo CE, Halo 2 PC, CS 1.6-GO, Quake Live (ability to with premium), Dota 2 has server ping limitations, CoD 4 Promode, Urban Terror, etc.

Because everybody will fully have the ability to play with their own locale? how would it negatively effect anybody? You should be able to play with people in your own ping-area on a game that relies so heavily on it.

Before anybody says "w-w-w-w-well the server is hosted in--" it's hosted in Virginia, so it's an NA server. Albeit not marketed as one.

I don't like this.
it's free for all but if you want to play with lower pings you can make room with password if it NA put in the room name NA only PW:NA and if EU room name EU only PW:EU if someone joined with high ping you can kick him.

What stops high ping players from typing in two letters? If you only have one person besides yourself, you can't kick. If you have two high ping players, you can't kick that person If you have two NA and two BR, you can't kick. It's just like the old singapore rooms from ijji with the pass of yiyier, and NA's would join it just to make the singapores upset. Not to mention, you only get one kick per room (currently supplemented by having 10 round rooms)

Passworded rooms do nothing, this literally has no downside. It's every other alternative but in a way that solidifies the region-lock, which despite being a "free" game, it's also a "Free" game that relies VERY heavily on ping, being P2P.

It's not a mandatory server-wide region-lock like KGunZ, it's just if somebody wants to play with people in their own region/area they can.

So, you're talking about perm. kick from gameroom? What about going to gameroom and perm. kicking someone? that's an even better idea imo.

i.e. high-ping player is in game, you leave gameroom and can kick him. Only problem is, that can be abused pretty heavily.

Yes. ppl abusing it in team training rooms and infected rooms -.-
not about perm kicking if you are the one who created the room you can check everyone ping before starting it
you can use late join off so they cant use another characters and join again and again.

But then if people leave, the slots can't be refilled unless the game ends or you remake the room, then you'd have 10 rooms just locked, in which case you might as well just use a password. Also, what if just one person joins? You're going to make them wait for more people instead of just starting and waiting for more people to join?

S4 it works because the games there are shorter, are more like a Call of Duty game where the rounds are short. GunZ games, most rooms are set to 500 rounds/wins and only end when everybody leaves the room.

Honestly ping limitation is a much more simple option, that's been used on other servers and other games. Most of Europe wouldn't be affected, as most ppl think up to 110 ping is tolerable and that stretches even to near turkey (for eastern/mid USA anyway.) It's mostly BR, Singapore/Philippines, Australia and Vietnam. Not to mention, not everybody cares about ping that much, so it wouldn't get used for EVERY room.

That's so unnecessary though when you can just create a ping limitation tag that'll do the same exact job with a lot less effort and a lot more reliability.

Well, their pings are usually high to NA players. So if an NA player creates a room with a limiting tag of 110, they can't join. If they create a room with the tag of ping limitation of 110, NA's can't join. It's not region-specific, it was just off the top of my head who'll be affected. NA's with shit pings are common too and just as much of a nuisance.

there is a small amount of ppl joining glad room from BR, Singapore/Philippines, Australia and Vietnam
what if someone want to join and there is no rooms for him just NA/EU Rooms cuz most gladiators are from EU/NA if they limitation of 110 then he can't join any glad rooms :?

There's really not a small amount of people, it's a very large amount of people or I wouldn't make this thread and suggest it in the first place. It's not about location either, like I said there's a lot of western EU/Na players with very high pings as well, whom are honestly worse than foreigners (this isn't xenophobic or anything)

Then he can make a glad room without ping limitation. Like I said, not everybody will care, not every NA will make a room with the tag in it. I mean even in my glad rooms I make, the people with high ping will call ME the lagger of all people; so they probably feel relatively the same way about NA players (although, most of them gun admittedly)

Even me personally, I don't always care if they're high ping (unless they play like ******s and abuse it to hell) just when I DO care, when I do want to play competitively, you can't play competitively vs. high-ping players in gladiator. You always end up back pedalling waiting for them to walk into the slash because you can't recoil them, and you can't properly angle them (as it must register on their client as well)

If he can afford internet he's probably the king of it and will just pay a bunch of people to play with him

This is again assuming everybody will make their rooms with ping limitation. In other servers, this didn't happen. In other games, this doesn't happen.

A ping limitation/restriction isn't the answer. The answer is having multiple server locations in different countries in Europe and in Asia so everyone can get connected to the nearest server and therefore get a better ping and a better game experience as a whole.

Ugh... That is the absolute worst possible answer. You know how they say "there are no wrong answers" sometimes? Now isn't one of those cases. You have a server of 300 AT MOST maximum people on at a time, so you're going to split them up more? Not to mention the cost of having multiple servers in multiple locations...

Not to mention, this problem is almost entirely for glad or at least [LEAD] gunning games. You don't need to split up an entire server for a problem so small.

Roomtag is the most practical answer.

Sorry, we will never add a roomtag/option/feature like that.

Yes, I'm sorry. I realize I was wrong and the entire time must of been asking for a "hack", not a room-tag as I was previously suggesting. A hack for adding a server-sided room-tag. I see that this is wrong now. /s
