So I'm planning on saving up for my own computer. After looking through different information on both gaming PCs and gaming laptops, I'm trying to figure out which one would be the better option to go with. Figured I'd come up with a creative way to get some ideas flowing to see some pros and cons, so why not a good ol' debate ?

In your honest opinion, which do you think is better for gaming ?

I use a normal laptop and it suffices for all my needs. that being said, if you're a gamer (which i assume you are) a gaming laptop would suffice all your needs, unless you have unrealistic expectations like you want to stream 432897432894327 movies at once while playing 3 games simultaneously and skyping with grandma.

so basically what it comes down to is.. do you want to be mobile or have a big desktop rig somewhere in the corner? I choose laptops e'ryday.

edit: don't listen to eden all he plays is league, gunz and OSU. can run that off a calculator

Definitely a PC. In the longrun, if you're going for gaming and possibly triple A titles, a PC can do more for a similar/better price than a laptop. In addition, they are up-gradable for future installations JUST IN CASE you need that new part for whatever reason or another (new Processor, new GPU for SLI/crossfire, extra RAM etc.)

Myself, I like to have a laptop for my own personal reason; I consistently go to a friend's house where they occasionally play on their PCs/laptops or whatever. It's just nice to have something a bit strong if I'm using it both away and from my home.

But yea, stick with a desktop. It will become far less regretful overall.

This was true, 10 years ago. It will always remain true that desktops are more powerful for a less amount of money, and don't bring as many problems as a laptop could bring. Laptops however can be used for gaming as well, it really depends on your life situation. You have to decide based on the places where you game. If you only play games at home, then buy a desktop. If you play games elsewhere or like lan parties etc. then get a good laptop.

    Laptop: portable, more expensive
Desktop: Can upgrade at any time, better at cooling

How good a laptop or desktop is, depends on your budget.
Usually, you can get a better desktop for less money.
It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready.
I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything.
There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now.
And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.
