[Mesh Contest] Weeks II - III: 'Just a Bag o' Textures'
This next fortnight we will be focusing on mesh design. As always, anyone is able to participate (and you GTKRadiant users, this may be your only chance to strut your stuff), so everyone please participate. This contest will be over a two week period, all in which a minimum of 5 separate objects MUST be created.
You will be given a pack of textures, most (if not all) are tileable, and were initially created for map making, this however is not required; As long as you use the textures presented, no other guidelines will be put in place. This should allow you to be fairly open with the initial design, and focus not on the whole process, but simply focusing on good topology, edge flow, and tidy workflow. PLEASE DO NOT TURBOSMOOTH YOUR WORK FOR NO REASON. Although vertex and face count will not matter this go around, you will still be graded on how well you used the resources on hand, please use modifiers sparingly. Entries will be due on Monday, October 8th, 2013 at 12 AM GMT, please post all entries in sketchfab or p3d (if you need help, ask me).
Side note: Voting is currently over for the first contest, slugheady won taking 52.5% of the votes, scoring a total of 27 points. I will later make a thread today in which we will grade the works based on a point system. Thank you all for voting and commenting, it is much appreciated.

Who will decide the winner? The winner is decided by a point system totalling 100 points. There will be a community poll on Monday, October 8th, 2013, depending on votes you can win a maximum of 50 points (all the votes) and 0 (none of the votes). The remaining 50 points will be decided by how well you executed the creation, this includes UV mapping, topology, texturing, etc.
Do I have to make the texture myself? It is highly encouraged that you do the whole process yourself, but if not, make sure to credit the correct creators. You will also face a deduction by not doing the whole process yourself.
Will you participate? Of course, I already have a few ideas spinning in my head.
Do I have to do something GunZ related? No, actually I would say forget GunZ for the moment and just let creativity flow. If it works for a game, great, if not, great as well.
Can I just post screenshots? For the community to best decide who wins the contest we wish to use a similar platform for everyone, please use SketchFab or p3d.
How many entries can I have 1.
*Please note that these contests are not strictly for GunZ the Duel usage. If you wish your mesh to be something entirely different, go right ahead. The sky's the limit.

Forgive me for asking, but I'm wondering if we can receive .jpg textures / map channels. I'm pretty sure we can transform .dds files into .jpg someway but I'm not sure. I'm not using .gtk radiant, so if I want to participate I'd prefer doing it in max.

Actually, thinking about it now, p3d and sketchfab do not support dds either. I'll make a conversion when i get home.

I went ahead and made them all PNGs. The size has changed drastically, so if you wish to convert the files yourself, you are allowed to do so.

The "challenge" is still left unclear what is supposed to be made.
Map pieces/sections? if so, pre rendered? since p3d/sketchfap doesnt allow light entities as far as i can see.
