I'm trying to use a gif as my avatar / profile picture and it isn't animating, wadafuq?

Is it just me or .GIF types for avatar are disabled?

I think there was an announcement for it.

I tried with my phone and my avatar still isn't animated. It's either disabled, or there's a problem with it.
