If you feel like you need to tell your sexual preferences to anyone other than (close) friends and family, you obviously want to feel and/or be treated special. It's the same as telling everyone on the internet you're a girl.
You have to realize what kind of environment you are in, todays society still isn't very openminded about sexuality and gender. Going against that is like being in a CS:GO community and telling people you prefer CoD. That doesn't mean your opinion is invalid, it just means its unwanted in the community you're in at that moment.
If you want to tell people you're gay or whatever, be expected to get some shit for it or even worse. I suggest u visit tumblr if you want to feel special.
Who cares.
You're gay, they're right.
Sometimes it's not even about telling people. You can't even hold your boyfriend's / girlfriend's hand in public if you don't want to get some shit told to you.
I don't think it's about being special just because you're gay, some people are just attention whores.
Thing is, they can't even live their life the way they want without getting hate.
They can, infact it's not against the law. But they are still a potential victim of physical threat just because they're holding their boyfriend's / girlfriend's hand. It's not about tellign the world that you're gay, no one would give 2 shits. Infact they would say: "Haaaaa gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!". It's about living the way you want, and some people are just there to make it difficult.
It's not being an attention whore. If I want to hold my girlfriend's hand then why can't I? Because some bastard will strike on us with a fluorescent lamp.
