Adding RealSpace 3.0 Maps to GunZ I (GunZ II/ RaiderZ Maps/ Custom HD Maps)

If we were to add this (saying if because I have no power over what is added and not added), would you guys be interested? Old maps would not have to change, and if your PC simply cannot handle it, you simply could not be able to play games using new maps. In the staff team some people liked the new idea of HD maps in game, others despised it, I wonder what you guys think.

Benefits:
New Official Maps
Updated Graphics Using Same Animation Style
Something new

Drawbacks:
Probable Glitches in Matches (I have not tested myself, but this is probably likely)
Some matches cannot be played by people playing on really bad computers.

The low res char looks so bad in those HD maps..

Also, most of the players play with archetype config.. That means nobody really cares about HD maps I guess? I personally don't.
And as you stated, players with crappy PCs won't be able to play.


The first map which is from GunZ II I'm guessing, won't fit with GunZ I k-style; more like a CoD map.

The only good thing is that we'll see some new maps.

But I still vote no; it'd be wasted effort.

You could easily add in maps that would fit in a more K Style gameplay style, these were just the example the creator of the Mod used.

My perspective is if we attract people who would complain about the graphics, we could expand into gameplay not necessarily related to GunZ as of this moment. You can keep the high speed action game, while adding in game modes that are possibly a bit slower paced (where detail would be appreciated).

Training rooms with those maps would be cool. And yeah, some maps could be good for the other game modes too.

The whole point is to revive GunZ by adding these maps, which will lead to an incrementation of new players; because we all know.. Fancy graphic is sexy and everyone likes it.
But.. For personal experience, there's something more which has to be fixed to let new people join.
New players aren't skilled at all, and it's pretty frustrating being dropped all the time without even noticing it. That's why all of the friends I've brought here on FGunZ left.

In the end, you should just add them. Melius abundare quam deficere. It's a new thing, nobody has it, you're not removing anything, people will still be able to play normal maps, gamers who like gfx will be attracted.. We won't lose anything, there's only to gain. c:

I actually completely agree with you, we would definitely have to lower the learning curve in order to attract new players entirely. The only new players we receive currently are (a) old players, (b) people from other servers, or (c) masochists. Do you have any ideas on how we could successfully lower the learning curve, and give something interesting at the same time as well?

The only way I can think of is either creating games that are highly team supportive in structure (more so than TDM or even CTF, based of tactics, not skill) or making game play slow enough in a PvE scenario, that requires you to instead focus on accuracy rather than how fast something is damaged (fighting BAFMs or something).

I think not much people would use it because like ni the 2nd video you see visual effects in the middle which may cause fps lagg.
Or they just use archtype, but for people with decent computers those map would look sick! Nice job a yes for me.

It's a good idea, but think of the consequences, much worse drawbacks for only that benefits.

I ll accept this idea anyway cause there're a lot of people who would like to test this, but i don't support it at all :)

You don't have to play the maps though, basically it is a buffet, if you don't like Hungarian chicken, you don't have to take it; you don't like the new maps, don't use them.

although i ton of us like it, ppl play gunz bcuz its the only game tht requires little to nothing to run at all lol. As much as i would like it, although it prob wont destroy my comp it'll prob destroy a ton of other hobos comps. just my opinion tho. players might stop playing simply cuz they cant play it anymore,

I see no reason to vote No. Considering if you added the option to play on either map instead of replacing the current with the new, all is happy. I, Personally, LOVE this idea. The mansion in particular is making me drool!

Yes if the fps stay stable :) and if it will possible to free moving because in mansion there are many things that block your free moves so dont add these map

or option 3) devs remake the map so we have best of both worlds (HD and playable/noglitches)

Just that this isnt realy his doing.
The original op about this possibilitie can be found on a other forum.
This is just a thread by wucas about the whole notion of it.
Doesnt mean it gets added or anything.

We live in an age of whiny kids screaming GRAFIX at their ps3 and some even saying it isn't even realistic enough too! So for those people saying their computer can't handle just a bit of ambient occlusion in this game. They certainly won't handle even playing minecraft! And as far as I know, the preview you showed are just some ambient occlusion and bigger textures, which is something you can easily disable from the settings if you can add that feature, since it's very easy to code, I think. However, as Google said, there isn't a need for it in a game like this. But if people can handle it and especially if you can make this a toggleable feature, by all means. Add it!
Because as of right now, the game looks as outdated as a Sega Dreamcast title from 10 years ago...

Opinionated or not, it's still a great addition to the game, especially for frags and other videos.

oh SHIT!

well it looks like the maps can already be played on gunz 1.. I would be down to try the out on the server...

as for the first map shown.. snipers will be very OP.. long distances.. snipes 2 shotting.. tons of "birds nest" areas. yeah its not going to be fun.

and for both maps, they are not k style friendly at all but it would be nice having players adapt to that.

Always wanted a pserver to make a "HD GunZ". Since GunZ was made so long ago graphics are garbage :P
Would definitely be nice, and probably even bring in tons of new players that care about not just gameplay but also graphics.

There are a lot of players that would like GunZ 2 graphics or better, with original GunZ moves (K-Style, BF, etc). You can tell by the amount of people on Steam complaining about how GunZ 2 doesn't have K-Style. Personally I would come back and play a ton if we had HD Maps/Charas/Guns (whatever is possible), and don't know how people can play with lowest settings while everything looks like a blob.
