Moving Servers to NL

Alright guys,

we're moving our Freestyle GunZ Server from Chicago to The Netherlands.

Our main reason is avoiding the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which is a United States copyright law (applies to GunZ Private Servers).

The new Dedicated Server has a better connection than the old server, I'm talking about 2 GBit Port-Speed (yes, 2000 Mbit per Second) and it is closer to most of our users.

Freestyle GunZ will be offline for 24-48 hours until we are done with moving the server.

This happened already because you have to pay with Euro instead of dollar.

You people are probably thinking it's 2000. It's 2000 Mb, not MB.

Speedtest.net goes in MB.

If yes then its worth to wait :D!

It doesn't matter where your from, with that type of connection you'll have an okay ping (: plus I dont even lag with people from europe, maybe 100 ping, aswell as people from europe aren't lagging from playing on the chicago server, so what does a better server mean? better pings for people who are close together! :D

Nevermind, speedtest goes in Mb, not MB.
So, going by speedtest measurement, it's 2000 Mb.

Most files, especially downloads, go by MB.

The lags are because of the distance or a bad connection and not because of the server ;)

P2P(peer to peer) ping is completely separate from server ping.

The website will most likely load slower or faster to some people.

Yeah, because of the fact that it wasn't fast enough. Ours is currently faster than required, making it faster than faster tahn required has a very reduced effect..

For example.

If you have a game running with max settings on a 4 core processor, you will barely see a change if you have a quad or a hexacore processor.

Because it's already nearly the best it could be. We dont' have 300 players, so making it faster won't matter much at all.

Also, ping to other players has nothing to do, in any way, with the server ping. If you shoot someone, you send packets to them AND the server that you shot at XYZ coordinates, and if they are at XYZ coordinates on their computer, the delay causing lead, you will send a packet to the server that you took damage.

However, this way the server ping will be changing slightly. Do you guys notice a difference between ijji and fgunz, versus the same people with the same delay weapons?

I do feel a difference yeah, was always wondering what it was. The movement in Fgunz is different from Ijji's

Axium, if you had a 500 gigabyte/second speed in Malaysia, it would be faster than a 499 gigabyte/second speed in Paris.

Thats because of the Client files ;)

Gunz is not a cloud game, guys.
It relies as much on your computer as it does on the server's computer.

For me, i say Leading is much easier on ijji than Fgunz. i have no idea why.

You still fail to understand.

There is no difference. Its impossible for there to be a difference. If you stand still, and a person moves left and right while you shoot in a straight line, and that person has 100 ping to you on fgunz and ijji, there will not be a difference.

If there was a difference, you could blame it on server lag, but there is not.

Yeah, Changing the sever to Eu's will make Eu's Ping Lower to other Eu's.
Also his right think about it.
Sever being hosted in Chicago, United state's to us are like what 50-80 ping?
It will Just be Vice-versa.
There's No difference in World Wide ping's.
Only Eu's were the sever is hosted because The ping is how many Milisecond's it takes for your Shot's to reach the sever.

You can see the server as a "gateway".
You would only notice a big difference with me if you are going to live next to me with a decent network.

Idk what changes the only think I know is that players from NL are 50-70 ping for me the highest was 100 .

No, the location of the server has nothing to do with ANYTHING, for the fiftieth time, The connections are Peer 2 Peer, which means your connecting to each other to fight, that's why when theres 16 people in a game, the pings are pretty high, as bunny chaser said, IT WONT MATTER unless your staying still, which you wont be.

The server has nothing to do with pings, the closer you are to people the better your connection to them.
