Suggestion description:

Couldn't really think of a perfect title... but i think i'll explain it pretty well below.


Since i've returned to FGunZ there has been some major changes. One in particular stands out in my opinion... the outfits.
You can actually use "two" outfits, one for the hp/ap and one just for the looks. This is pretty awesome because the donation set is ugly as hell, and therefore you can overwrite just the looks, with a better set.

Now I am not sure if this has been requested already or if its something already in development, if so, please close this thread...


I'd like to see the same system but for the weapons. In that way we all can experience "IJJI' all over again with pioneers and breakers.
I'm sure some people don't want this feature because then... you can't tell if people are using the limit breaker or not. But for me, that's the same thing for the sets. You can't tell if they tank with a donation set or not. Same thing...

If this request will get in to development, and i think it's not that hard considering they've done it with the sets, this will be a pretty big deal.

Imagine all the frag movie "Just like IJJI", but of course, with the FGunZ UI.

Imagine playing with just a pioneer, breaker 8 and a SHURA sword while still dealing damage of your limit breaker or duelisto.


EDIT: To prevent confusion, maybe its a good idea to restrict the "pioneer" to limitbreaker only.

Really? So playing with a standard set while using donor set and rings will define me as a hacker? Because you need to hit twice as much. Nahhh man. Besides, limit only does 1 more damage. Not a big difference.


I edited the post. You can also restrict the "pioneer" as the only "skin" for the limitbreaker.

People won't know what you got cuz cosmetics. Guess you don't watch reports if you think it doesn't matter if its limit or not.

What if the name stays the same. Only the skin is a pioneer in this case, while it's still called limit breaker :)

In my case, i'd love to use the pioneer/breaker8/shura combo... it just plays great in my opinion.

Although "its pretty useless" because it doesn't add damage or anything else in the game. But many agree with me, some sets are better to play with than others. I think the same of the weapons. I like to play with limit because of the damage. But i like the looks of the pioneer better.

They could make cosmetics buyable with coins/points I guess.

you could make colour weapon skins that keep the image of the item the same however changes the colour.

example;

Limit Breaker is gold currently.

Ability to purchase green/black/blue/red skin to change from gold to the purchased colour.

But again pretty useless.

Sounds cool, I get what you mean. Some sets just play better, same goes for weapons (as to why no one knows I guess)
I do however think Linzor is right, it's too much of a hassle report wise etc.

Back when I was with the crew we had a discussion and idea for it but never really put it through / came with a real solution for it.

We had two idea's;

1. Where 1 model could have multiple textures that we gave a few colours and the client could read; model A + texture A = Weapon A, model A + texture B = Weapon B, same model but a different texture without having to duplicate the same model (currently that is the only way to have a copy of the model instead of 1 > meaning that the client will be heavier on the size which is a NO NO)
2. Create part transparent texture that only contain small details of the weapon like screws n stripes but where the model itself is one solid colour (blue for example); Where the client only will read where you change the HUE of the solid colour of the model itself (mesh), so the game could read; model + texture + materiala colour red = Weapon A (red), model A + texture + material colour blue = Weapon B (blue)

Example on option 2, same object but different material colours that would be under the texture.

Also a nice feature! But i'd like "weapon skins" even better...

I just want to use the pioneer again... with the damage of a limit though :p

Why not create skins for weapons that you buy with bounty from the market

Imagine someone spraying with a sniper, or shotgun for that matter x)

I don't think that'd be a great idea, however I do support the weapon colours though, the 2nd option that StephanM suggested looks very good (probably because the images clarify it a lot).

I support this. Just make sure there is noted somewhere what weapons people use. Can be shown when you press the TAB button for the scoreboard and/or when someone killed you it's: "Maw has owned Derpface (Cruelizon)" or "Maw (Cruelizon) owned Derpface". Of course also: "Maw owned you (Cruelizon)" or "Maw (Cruelizon) owned you"

Or more direct: "Maw owned Derpface with Cruelizon". A simple command in chat is possible too of course. A simple "/skins Maw" would do the trick. Personally I think chat isn't a good idea. Scoreboard would be a better idea because of colors in names. If you have someone with a name like this: "Maw^0" and he kills you than you can't properly see what weapon "Maw^0" used. Because everything after "Maw^0" would be black.

You could of course design it so the weapon mentioned in chat always has a color. For example "^2Cruelizon", "^2Mayuri Shotgun" and "^2Black Mamba". Than you can make every weapon a different color. So for rifles it would be red, shotguns green and rocket launchers white. You can leave this out too of course.

For example: "Maw^0 owned you. ^2(Cruelizon)" or "Maw^0 owned you. ^2(Black Mamba)"
Some more: "^4Beard owned Maw^0. ^1(Jack Rifle) or "RLNoob owned Maw^0. ^7(Cannon Rocket)"

Of course you shouldn't be able to put a Rocket launcher skin on a rifle or a rifle skin on a shotgun.

It's a good idea but the weapon cosmetics would need to be unique models. I.E obvious cosmetics, and the models couldn't be used on regular guns.

Than it would be really useless in my opinion. I would see no reason than to make use of this feature. I don't know if others see it the same way.

I don't really see the use of coloring ur weapon cuz i like every designed made by the staff for the weapons color

Improving Gunz is hard because the moment something big gets brought up, all the players scream like children. Which is expected, core gameplay should stay generally the same. That's why most people are here, right? That being said, the improvements that are left to be made have to be very careful to not touch the core of the game, which is why things like cosmetics, ui revamps, etc, are so important.

pretty sure he only meant weapons in the same class, for example change a limit to a pio or a donation sniper as the level 50 one, not shotgun for spray

tbh this doesnt needed to be done for all items

imo just need that default ijji items mostly

e.g. b7, b8, b9p, pioneer, shura, golden dragon sword, zaurus, possibly even add avenger jus for the looks etc

rest are irrelevant doubt someone gna use the ugly other items and dont see the point their should be a cosmetic only for the o.g items that was mostly used

That is the idea, 1 texture with multiple meshes that have each a colour (there is a thing in the xml as well color="#FFFFFFFF").
Cannot remember if archtype have an effect on man/woman models like it does on maps (town with light red parts).

That's not what I meant. I meant that you overwrite the skin of the limitbreaker with a pioneer. The damage/delay stays the same.

Yea i was thinking the same thing about this suggestion but instead if you have a limit breaker but dont really like the design on it and you got lets say like a pony shotgun or pioneer you're able to like just put the pony or whatever shotgun in the the second slot of the limit breaker and the pioneer will have the stats of the limit breaker, but it'll only look like a pioneer to you since if it did to other people it would cause a confusion

Also people who want to override weapons like shotguns.. I do not think it is a smart idea since you can recognise certain weapons like LB, but if you override it with a pony shotgun you are basically fooling people which would feel unfair to most people.
Now for clothing it is not the biggest problem cause the donation sets aren't too much of a booster compared to the donation weapons.

Just my two cents of thoughts on this topic when it comes to overriding items.

Now as I shared before and with HexiPipi, the idea I had is also a form of cosmetics but without any advantage of trickery or stats.
It also would create an easier way for so called 'chroma's' and a better way to have multiple copies of a certain idea in various colours and designs as how we currently know it is in the GunZ developing scene (aka copy the same model and texture, meaning you have 2x more kbs/mbs and so on as it should be in theory).

But I am just throwing in idea's without touching the true nature of the game and without touching the current status/balance of FG.

I like what i see in this thread. Donators would actually be able to get some variation in wepons instead of the same lb, duelistoand others!
even non donators could have some other skins instead of some ugly low lvl guns

All of that can be solved if the name of the original weapon stays the same. It's doable for the devs I think. Maybe you can't tell what weapon it is, but if you check the replay or spectate the player, you'll see it's a lb or something else.

Also, restrict shotties to shotties as a override. So you can't use a limit breaker skin for a revolver. etc...

I suggested this in the past, but they pretty much laughed and told me to **** off. Hopefully this suggestion can pass, because it could be a great idea. It's literally the same concept as the clothing but with weapons. And people are always going to find something to complain about when it comes to change anyway. Can't please everyone lol

Nice one, would be cool to see something like that being added. Although, I think it is better to tick-a-box for something like this, to turn it off and on. If someone's wielding a Pioneer for example, I think they'll be reported for it. So sort of.. own risk I guess? Overall, pretty cool.

I also just thought of this idea too, and came here to see if someone had made a thread suggesting it already, I was surprised to find one so recent. The reason I thought of this was because I wanted to use the Golden Dragon Sword, which looks really nice and gives that 'ijji' experience, but it means I cannot use my donation sword which has better stats.

I think a lot of people would like this to be possible, and I fully support the suggestion.

like I said before it shouldnt be on all weapons that would be gay just the main ijji items e.g. (pioneer, b9p, b8, golden dragon sword, shura, and zaurus revs & etc)

if theirs 2 many it would cause confusion in reports anyway atleast this way its better understood + i doubt any other item gna be used more then these

Yeah that's what I said. But if they are going to make random things that should give the expression that it's an skin than I don't really care anymore. There are quite a few ways to just let skins be there. There a lot of ways to clarify a specific person uses that specific weapon instead of the skin he or she uses. I'm in for actual skins like in clothing. Just having some recolors sounds nice I suppose but it does require quite a lot of work.

Also, skins don't change the core gameplay at all. I don't get why I get a reaction saying "Improving GunZ is hard" and "all the players scream like children". I'm for change. I don't see how a bunch of skins can change the core gameplay though. Skins sound fun but not a few recolors.

Having the same name does not matter, it matters in the game.
When you play you cannot see that there would be a LB be hidden under the skin of a breaker 3 for example (which would "unfair" in a way if you think you opponents has a low lvl item but suddenly does a lot of dmg?).

Also they would never make it that you can override a LB with revolver looks, it will always be stuck in it's item category, like clothing > pants - pants > chest - chest.

Every donation item isn't limited to a level. They're all level 0. ALMOST every low level just switches his donors to the alt and plays with it. Only a small percentage of fgunz plays with non donors. Limit is " only " one damage higher than the rest of the weapons so it's basically not "unfair". Besides, there are so many shotguns in the shop that people won't even care about the looks of the shotgun, imo.

If we make certain rules and restrictions with these "weapon skins", it will all be okay. A lot of support on this thread so i'm pretty sure it won't affect the report section that much.

Lets say,

- you can only skin the limit breaker with a pio (encourages people to buy more luckyboxes Lol Kappa)
- Skin other donation shotguns with B9p, b8, b7, cruelizon.

But keep the names the same of course. There has to be a away to tell people that it's a skin.

No recolors, just re-skinning weapons like the limitbreaker to a pioneer. Maybe there could be a setting in "MISC" to turn off the skins, in case you're bothered by people using skins...

This is a good idea. I like it. But you'd be limited to overlaying cosmetics that do *not* have their own weapon. Meaning we'd need to have models that'd solely be used for cosmetics.

dude do you even math.
lets say a shotgun shoots 12bullets and it makes 9dmg (donor shotgun example) thats a total of 108 possible damage.
limitbreaker also shoots 12bullets and it makes 10dmg thats a total of 120 possible damage. thats 12dmg difference and thats a lot.

i think this suggestion is a bad one first think about the tournaments where u need to use Rusty shotguns.u can easily trick with this feature :3

No you can't trick the tournaments because... You can still see the name of the original weapon. Second, only a few selected skins can be applied. Not every weapon available.
If this is done right, fgunz will be more fun for sure.

I like this idea alot! Would love to play with the breakers and/or pio again as well.

Locked the thread for now. It just needs a developer to reply and make the decision on which direction this will go in. No point keeping it open any longer as it will just clutter the thread.

While i like this idea and its one ive thought of in the past long ago. I do not believe this will be added anytime soon due to our focus in other areas right now. Perhaps someday after V8, but for now this will be declined.
