September 11th, 2001.

Today marks the ninth year since the events of 9/11, as well as the other terrorist attacks on American soil. Thousands of lives were lost that day, as well as important structures such as the World Trade Center and the Twin Towers. Now, I know many of you were infants at this time, and others might be ignorant to the fact that this is very much so a big deal to me, as well as a few others. This happened on one of my first days of Fourth grade, when I was 9. And I remember the day fully.

Anyways, if anyone can remember back almost a decade around this time, what were you doing on September 11th, 2001? I was at School working on a math paper, came home like a normal day, walked home by myself, day seemed normal. Walked into my front door and my sisters (now ex)boyfriend was laying on our Couch looking depressed. I asked him what was wrong and he said "Look...", and we watched as the planes flew into the buildings and as many people were running away frantically. The entire day was filled with silence in our household.

Rest in Peace, those who fell on the day of September 11th, 2001. We will always miss you.

I think the worst part for me was watching people jump outta the huge building.

I was in school. I had no clue what happened untill I got into 6th grade. Don't forget about the Pentagon. Or whatever it is called.

Yea that made me feel horrible dude. I watched it and I swear my heart dropped with them. I remember many people made pictures with the people falling, and they were heartfelt pictures of like, them flying like Angels now.

But just imagine: You made it out of the building JUST in time, and all of a sudden you start hearing LOUD smashes on the ground, and you look up and see hundreds of people falling out of the sky above you and landing at your feet, smashed like roadkill.... That's probably one of the most traumatic things to ever behold.

The day terrorists became famous.

It didn't really make me sad due the the fact that it happened to the U.S. but if it happened to any place at all I would still shake me up. I mean come on you see people on fire jumping outta buildings as planes crash into it...

London got hit by an attack on their buses also.

Stephan, they didn't become famous that day. They became famous the day they decided to want to kill people for their so-called "beliefs". I've studied the Quran, and nowhere in it does it say that you shall get 70 virgins upon death for your God, nor does it say anything about killing yourself for your beliefs and threatening other religions with basically the same principles.

I believe I was 8 years old or something at the time. Playing pokemon or something like that, I saw it on tv and I thought it was a movie. Untill my parents explained & it was talked about at school.
Might sound rude but I've never really cared about it, a lot of shit happens. I'd rather not get depressed about every single of those things.

Totally true, though I am not with the Americans either as they are stupid enough to turn AGAINST the islam, while it has nothing to do with this. It toally sucked and I feel for the people who knew people that died, but it shouldn't be related to the islam..

I believe stephan only said that because people are paying major attention to 9/11 and not so much to these other disasters. I don't really get the reason why this thread was posted as a forum announcement and not any of the other disasters. Obviously it would be hard to move on with your life when your family is taken away from you, but this isn't the case here, at least not for you I mean.

It's not against the rules to post about major events that happened in your Countries. You don't hear me complaining about if you guys post anything about it do you? In fact I would feel for you. Now how about everyone stop bitching about how we're remembering a day in our Goddamn history that really affected us and either get the hell off the Thread, or post what you were doing that damn day.

I was in class and I didn't even care that day, cause I didn't even know what it meant o_O. I realised it like years later.

Thank you. I know you guys think we always make a big deal about it but if it were you guys it had happened to and I was in NL, I'd be feeling for the people who lived in that Country. It affects me because so many people I could have met and learned so much from or came to love DIED that day. Maybe a future wife, maybe a future best-friend, maybe a future father or mother figure... All gone in a day.

That's how life works lol

I might've met my new sister if I didn't go and get that icecream yesterday. :D

Becasue its a recent major tragedy. People still remember the holocaust and that was how many years ago? No, Im not relating or comparing the 2 but I used it as an example.

Yea, but if we did have people from India im sure they would have made a thread and we would have shown my support opposed to saying "Get over it". Regardless of the country if there is a tragedy, as long as it wasn't because of something dumb, I would show my sympathy.

I'm not going to post a Thread about another Countries tragedies. I will feel for them, but it isn't something I feel necessary to do since I don't live there. If someone from Haiti posts about it, I'll respond with heartfelt sympathies, but it's the person who is from that Countries responsibility to choose if they wish to do so or not, not nobody else's. Just like if something happened in the Nederlands, I'd respond with heartfelt sympathy for you guys since we've experienced a major tragedy here as well.

Well you might not care, but that's you. I'm sure there are people all across America who are happy that 9/11 happened. But for those who DO care, they are free to post on Freestyle and express their pain.

What eno is trying to say: You should let go of it. bad things happen and you can't waste your time tinking about things that are in the past. the future is now and live your life =].

Well of course we are going to move on, but on the day of its happening the least we can do is remember all those whose lives were lost on that day. It's the least we can do since we do not talk about it on pretty much any other day.

A natural disaster and a crime against humanity are two different things. One just happens and you can't really do anything about it until the aftermath. The other comes from hatred from one group of people toward another. This is why this is sad to me more than anything else. Not because the numbers, but the hatred.

I was in 4th grade, about 8-9 when my mom woke me up. My grandmother was watching the news and she talks a lot...too much in fact; she she called everyone in the family telling them what happened. I was woke up and got to see the second plane hit a tower on the news. I saw lots of people jumping and screaming. When I had went to school my teacher was talking about it. He told us what happened and that we would remember this day forever.

Well first off, it's not the Americans who kill the children. The ones that HAVE are mainly either by accident, no other choice, or are just plain cruel and unusual. The radicals use innocent women, children, and men of their own to attract American's to help them, then the innocents martyr themselves. If anything the people over there were killed at the hands of their own people. The war would have never started if the bombings never happened.
