We're back, or rather I'm back with Dev Blog updates.
It's been a busy past few weeks and I figured the community could use an update from whats going on with the coding side of things. Regardless, I'll also cover a few concerns for people.

First and foremost the "issue" of anti-lead.
I still firmly stand by the belief that there is nothing wrong and I am open to seeing replays that could prove me wrong. (I clearly have not gotten any yet, just a lot of talk.) However I do acknowledge that there is a slight possibility (though unlikely) that in the type of packets it transmits there could potentially be an issue. (1 shotgun shot = 12 packets) This will most likely be consolidated and fixed but besides that, so far nothing else comes to mind.

Secondly, F* spam prevention will be taking place.
Should be self explanatory.

An auto record function will also be going in.
I'm not a big fan of this, it's not hard to just press f11 or whatever but its simple enough to add. We will also work on naming conventions of recordings a bit, the old GunZXXX model will not be coming back but we may make this one more legible quickly.

A whisper suggestion proposed by Kira a long time ago will be considered.
It will only allow whispers from specific groups of people. (clan members / friends).

Snipers will be looked at in order to fix the issue of SSing with a sniper and killing someone within a matter of 2 seconds. A sniper should be used from range so either a damage reduction in close range or a delay before someone can shoot after loading into the scope will be discussed internally and decided upon.

I'll look into making the ignore list into a permanent / semi permanent thing rather than resetting ever time you start FGunZ but that is not a major priority.

On top of all those updates we will be conducting a lot of back end fixes and optimization. Hopefully they will get rid of any potential crashing still in FGunZ.
This will also allow me to potentially lay some ground work for updates in the future and increase our server's security.

Well good things I hear. With the anti-lead issue personally I've only had few issues as before. So it's a least concern right now to me.

Sniper update looking good. As much as I've gotten used to them, it is annoying regarding the manner in which they are used.

And then the other small things. I think the auto-replay is just for the sole fact some people just simply don't want to keep pressing F11. Yes it is lazy, but it's 2013 where everyone is a lazy asshole anyways so it's quite fitting.

Lastly, I want to confirm is [V] getting fixed from being a static 125/100 to a cap instead? I am really getting tired of people abusing E-weight rings with 1 hit nades without receiving the negative bonuses which are placed for a reason. It makes for extremely lazy kills especially in AnD matches.

I think the sniping issue balances out because of; Not much people can snipe close range. But I understand it's anoying.. still too bad tho

I love Sniping and I don't think they should be nurfed as it takes skill to use them, most people just rage about them because they can't be asked to practice with them.
And this anti lead should be fixed, I don't have a replay but its awful.

This was supposed to happen a while ago and it seemed to have slipped through the cracks. I'll ensure that this get fixed as well.

As far as flashbangs go I have no exact control over them. I don't do items you'd have to push this question the HellSniper since he would be the most likely to be able to give you a reply on that.

What is wrong with the current widescreen patches? They seem to work fine for me.

Also coming is staff exceptions to room tags in the event channel.
Now you can use [NI] and such in DBN without losing your own grenades. Any abuse of this is to be reported to me and I'll personally break the perpetrator's fingers in 3 places.

if the [V] tag get's fixed, is there a possibility to add an other tag which does the same? so it would do the same as the current [V] tag

I think how the auto-replay is gonna work is that there's going to be a checkmark box option for it in options. Only seems logical.

It would be useless if there isn't a checkmark box option for auto-recording XD auto records every game and makes your memory full.

About this, i cant explain how or why does it feel like my shots aint doing enough damage as they should like in the past...
Normally a shotgun pb takes away about 80-100 damage which can lead into 3 shot kills.
It feels now like you have to give 4-6 shots to take em down.

Thats the best way i can say it. So there must be package loss of some sort.

I believe scaling works on a percentage ratio instead of re-positioning so the amount of work required would not bring in as valuable of a result. I'll look into it but no promises as I really don't have too much of an issue with the current system anyway.

I've hit three shot kills in this system, like I said until I get physical evidence I cannot make anything of it.

ok i found something that isnt supposed to happen.
to my suprise it isnt the close range shots that aint registering...
its the mid range shots.
When i shoot at mid range it only makes 9 dmg per shot but actually theres like 3-4 bullets hitting the taget on my screen?

I find it odd considering I get hit quite hard at midrange consistently (5-8 pellets). IDK, just the way it seems on my side and always get shocked when my opponent is quite a ways away and my AP drops from 100 to like 40'ish. Like this happens quite a bit.

okay and why touch the snipers:/ some ppl have shotgun skills some have sniping skills... if ppl think its easy to kill people in 2 seconds with a sniper then let them try its harder then you think;) And because it looks easy for some people doesnt mean it IS easy.. then TBF is **** as well because some cant do that _-_zZzZz not being a complainer but sniping is hard enough.. dont ruin it by adding/removing new things

It's not hard at all, I use shotguns and going to a sniper and ssing someone from zero distance is not skill.

It will be almost impossible to update the widescreen support to a point like how MAIET did it, simply because there are almost 40+ code areas to change (with hack-ish decimal numbers). As of now, the current implementation of widescreen is the most efficient way.

Also, the anti-lead isn't 12 packets as what Mike says. It'll be fixed soon anyway.

^this cannot happen fast enough. snipers are probably the most OP/abusable weapon on this server.

someone was telling me about how [v] is going to be changed so it's not able to be abused any longer. is dis tru
abuse of [v] being setting the stats equal so you can equip extreme rings not get -hp/ap put super OP weapons/items & then rape with regular stats

Yes, they are working on making sure [V] is implemented correctly. It's obvious that having HP/AP set to 125/100 rather than limited to is a problem if we have items with negative bonuses; kind of a "missing the point" effect. Mike himself on this thread said it's definitely something being looked at and I'm 90% sure it will be changed.

Hey guys, small update on this.

Here is what has been done so far:

Code:

1. [V] is now fixed. 125/100 is now only set if your HP/AP exceeds either one of them. IE 130 HP -> 125 HP. 85 HP -> 85 HP. 2. Event Team and Other Staff Members are now exempt from [NX] tags, this is to make it easier to host events and prevent players from being "trolls". 3. F* Anti-spam has now been set. The current delay between F* macros is 2 seconds. 4. Autorecord is done. It will now start recording as soon as you join a game if you activate the option in the options menu. For round based games the recording stops at the end of rounds and starts back up at the beginning. Clan war is also included in this. 5. Recordings have now been restructured in their naming. This should be easier to read and is previewed below. Any game mode with rounds will have the first round the recording started on in the title automatically.

Still in the works is the Sniper Nerf, everything else is to be determined or something Linear and I will have to work on together.

Would appreciate it, if snipers really HAVE to be nerfed, that u could do it in weight.
With the V fix you could make it so sniper weigh more, giving sniper users less health and thus easier to kill.
Making them slower will ruin so much fun for many people, only because some shotgun using people are complaining about it.
They say stuff like ''quickscoping a sniper doesn't make sense, it's supposed to be a long ranged weapons'' etc.
I ask all of you. Does shooting 3 shotgun shots in 1 second make sense? People will say ''u can 2 hit people with snipers!''. I know, it's also way harder to hit with one.
I can hit with shotguns from everywhere but can't with a sniper. so it only makes sense shotguns do less damage from a far (also because they're shotguns) cause when ur up close they'll also be a 2 shot kill.

please, reconsider nerfing something that is only being nerfed because some people (often shotgun users) can't adjust their playstyle to this new GunZ form you guys have created. It's unique, it's what keeps me and many others playing, it's very appealing for many players.

I'd just like to remind you guys this game is called ''Freestyle GunZ'', not ''ShotGunZ''.

why change dashes though that is stupid, you might aswell just change the color of insta sword because im getting tired of that gray color or change the color of the character to all black because Im getting tired of white characters

I completely agree with this I am very tired of the whiteness in this server.

I also want to see wanna see more body movement Why don't my pex move when I jump up and down, and the female characters also! I demand Jiggling fx!

I would like to see some experimentation with other guns.. I like the shotgun that does like 1-2-3 dmg and shoots very fast (with 50 bullets.. I forget the name).. There should be some experimentation with very fast rifles that are very accurate and do low damage.. like a quake's lightening gun. Or how about single pistol that does 100 dmg or so, and has like 2000 delay & 2 bullets/clip? like a musket pistol or something? I want to see some experimentation!
