[Wucas] Interface Option Poll

Mark what options seem useful to you, and ignore those that seem useless.

Explanations:

Registration on Login Page:
Allows user to register a new account via the login screen rather than using the registration link on the website.

Replay on Login Page:
Allows user to view and play previously recorded GZR files without logging in.

Updates and New on Login Page:
Shows updates on the login page in a small frame. Allows user to see what has been included in previous updates.

Ingame VIP Shop:
Allows users to purchase premium items from within the game using Freestyle donation Coins

Character Preview in Lobby:
Allows you to see a small, 3d representation of your character in the Lobby much like is viewed in the Shop and Equip frames.

Original Shop/ Equip Display:
Removal of weapon and equipment tabs, all items are listed on a single fluent column.

Customizable Content (Color):
Allows users to edit certain parts of the interface to a specific color scheme of their choice by using the CUSTOMIZE folder, much like a crosshair.

Larger Chat Window:
Increases the size of the chat window in order to allow more lines of text to be visible at one time.

Vertical Room Placement:
Change the method in which rooms are displayed, instead of 2 columns with 4 rooms each, a single 8 room column would be put into place. Horrible Example from 2010

Combat Interface Revamp:
Reworking the HP/ Weapon bars on the interface used during combat.

I didn't vote for registration in-game and the in-game VIP shop because there's way more flexibility (script wise) when these things are located on the website. If the registration script in-game needs a change, a whole new runnable has to be published.

They are in place to increase ease of access for the player which is basically the definition of a UI. If you have any suggestions for options that should be added or removed to better the interface, please tell me.

Don't listen to him, the poll actually shows a lot of useful options, for me the replay at the Login screen would be good, customizable interface is good as well, would make a lot of players happy and I'm sure of it

The Vertical Room Placement is pretty interesting, if you do this the chatroom is already automatically bigger and I like the view of it but ofc it must have a sweet design, but I really like the idea of it.

Well it's true that it is a big change but, I really think we should try it out. Everyone knows how Gunz was (in generally) and there have been a lot of modifys on all sort of things, some things went good and others were not and they were removed. You just don't know it until you try it, let people comment about it on the forum how they like it when they are actually working with it. + I think it's not only me but I'm gonna share it with the community, how it is now on most of the Private Servers 'The lobby has almost never changed a thing.' So yea I think it's a great idea.

Unless there is a better turn out in this poll, I think I will leave the placement the same. There are quite a few changes in the source as well as hours worth of changes on the graphical side of things.

If I find time, I may try a mockup version and allow some users (probably VIP/ Elites) to try it out, because honestly I prefer vertical rooms as well.

Wanting to make all these changes and everything is great but how long would it take to implement these changes would they been in 1 month less maybe more when v8 comes out. Or just you'll work on them slowly.

They would be in place on the release of v8, not before, and hopefully not in supplementary updates.

In all honesty I want version 8 to come out of the box as a great client, then place updates as expansions rather than fixes.

Exactly thats what new versions are mostly for. Supplementary updates should be used to fix updates in my opinion. While new updates harbor the exciting new changes and game modes. Btw what would you want to have in v8 other than the changes now in this thread.

Let me put it simply and say there is a lot in store, and I have a pretty good feeling about this client. I can't really divulge much information since we are really just starting to break ground on everything, but after a few meetings with other staff everything is on the up and up.

It does kind of disappoint me that we are so low on staff however. Even with alot of outside help from talented individuals like Zain we are quite short staffed on the developer side of things. I wish we had some more help.

Well with linear busy and mike as well sometimes busy. Plus with all the other gunz servers out there. You'll be hard pressed finding devs since most people dont know how to code this game or dont want to anymore since it dead or dieing.

I really want some more graphics devs, but you are right, we are limited.

I wouldn't recommend removing some of the equipment tabs, they provide a short cut to your equips. Just my opinion though.
I voted for Customizable Content; i think it would be an interesting change and i am curious as to how it may look with archtype.
Good ideas though :)

maybe instead of a In game VIP Shop , maybe put Into Inventory --> Filter ---> "Donation/Event Items"
(will only show the donation + Event Items you bought on site).

Basically people would have the ability to either type in a color combination and it would change the interface to fit that color or I would have certain parts of the interface customizable by an image in the CUSTOMIZE folder, just like a crosshair.

It is like if you could change the orange bar above this post to blue or pink or indigo.

Note: it might be difficult to understand me since I am crazy and explain my shit in my own weird way, bare with me and read this with care (if you are into the idea.. or not).
I am going to focus on the bottom right corner of the UI in this post.
So right now the UI shows us a big box with P, F & C (see legenda) which takes a fair amount of space.
Also the arrows/scrolling seems to be bugged in my opinion and it can be a pain to search for a certain player with only 6 names showing per page scroll.

My idea on changing that box is to make it a fair amount smaller to give the rest of the UI more space, as example the CB or PS.
I also like to see the font being one or two points smaller to increase the amount of players shown per scroll/page.
As you can see in the spoiler I swapped the words Lobby (Players), Friends and Clan to 3 simple icons with their own letter and colour.

The idea is when you have non of the 3 clicked there will not be shown a pop out box, but just 3 simple buttons.
When clicked on one of them a list with pop out towards to top with the players and their lvl/clan/lobby-gameroom-playing sign.
Also this list should shown around 18 players per scroll/page (if we add the same arrow styles) if I can trust on my guessing skills.
Last but not least I'd like to see a scrollbar function in this like the chatbox has.

I don't think the way some stuff are placed like the current interface (lobby) should change alot, if you move around stuff it will become super ugly and people dislike big changes in general.

A replay function on the log-in screen ( what I said along time ago ) is a good thing for people who are banned, and for people who aren't banned so I think that should be the priority since it's for more people.
Everything that should change should only change the way of how easy it is to choose a certain thing.
Example: The current shop is amazing, -> Melee -> Dagger - you can instantly choose what you want without searching.
Things like this are what makes people happy.

I like the idea of revamping the in-game HP/AP status bar, along with the in-game VIP shop, that would be unique and clever, decent amount of coding, but would it become fully customizable?
E.g. Be able to update it easily for stat changes, model changes or even special offers?
