I think god is just a made up myth that was made along big ass time ago and now everyone wants to believe there is a god and that god is they're savior,
BREH first off if god existed and he was such a good god he wouldn't allow causes like 9/11 or shit like that, which makes it all something natural and our intelligence natural , not that "God" gave us this intelligence jezz, secondly In the bible stats that if we kill we go to hell but animals kill to survive now think if there was no government and no technology we would have to survive and kill , government controll us , did god ever do anything to this world? No , GOD is bs made up by stupid humans and so is religion, i'm pretty sure animals don't pray and we're animals but with intelligence , we have sex , we **** , we have emotions all natural , now if u can prove me wrong go ahead.

The staff are really really strict on controversial debates like these, because people on these forums can't have a calm, mature discussion about it. Too many ideas clash then people just start yelling at each other and it becomes a big mess.

Why how or when it was 'made' up, or rather, how where or when the Bible was written is something we will never have an answer to. I'm pretty sure we would be able to kill other animals to survive, it's meant to not slaughter other humans without reason (not that there are good reasons for slaughtering other humans).

I'm pretty sure that religious people would have a counter argument for everything you put up here. The way I view religion is just a different set of norms and values applied to different cultures, it's something that is slowly being replaced by technology and laws. For me it's common sense that we respect others, meaning that we don't invade their privacy, steal their stuff let alone harm / (sexually) assault one another etc. etc. There isn't much wrong with the basic concept to be civilized really...

To me, we're all religious. We either believe in the same or a different god, or we believe in ourselves. It's all the same, #grouphug.

I know both you and I aren't directly involved with the cause or spread of ongoing wars, but our fellow humans are. I don't believe in God, but if I were him I sure as hell wouldn't play Earth's janitor and clean up all the trash. The bible states that when the time of jesus his return is there, first a lot of bad things will happen, as in tornados earthquakes war and shit. Those are all happening. Through this, it's able to think about it (9/11 other shit) as a sign.
This is just what I have been taught in church, i'm not sure what i believe, i was raised in church and still have to go, but I have no idea what's true and what isn't.

Well we all know that it is impossible to prove a negative, but at what point can one argue that so many of the core attributes of an individual are inaccurate or impossible that the traditional understanding of that individual is no longer valid. If we were to learn that Christopher Marlowe was the true author of works like “Romeo and Juliet,” “Macbeth,” and “Hamlet” than our previous understanding of “Shakespeare” would be completely wrong. this debate can go on and on for as long as you like. I think god is real. Human itself for example, the human body is an extraordinary thing with our DNA containing more information than anything you can ever imagine. Everything is just right for us, we need the essentials of what we have heart, brain, lungs? And to add on to this, nature itself is a miracle. The distance from the Sun is just perfect? Not a coincidence. Yes it's true that many bad things have happened within mankind, (9/11, WWII, etc). This is why there is Heaven and Hell which should encourage man to care about one another. I believe that all humans are born evil, we are all selfish deep down and only care about ourselves which is survival, but people do not see this because we have been given an opportunity to live such a great life. I think I have encountered God myself. There was a tragic accident that occurred in my family, and my prayed so hard to God for some miracle to happen. I was losing hope and needed something, what do you know? That miracle happened, I'm not asking you to believe me on this, but I myself truly think that God is real.

When it comes to religions, it was all made up by someone to begin with and later on written in books.

I've read the bible growing up, and I'm sorry. Can't trust some outdated book for evidence. If you can, that's cool, but I can't. Books (like the Bible) are written by people just like you and me. If people are tempted to make shit up nowadays for attention, who's to say that same temptation didn't exist back then ? Not everyone back then was this perfect little angel who obeyed this "God." Just look at the Adam and Eve story. Just look at Judas.

I think it's almost an insult to say that this complex planet and everything/everyone in it was made by some magical waving of hands in such a short period of time. I think there's something more complex. And I also think the SB king hit the nail right on the coffin. I feel that man made up God to protect the sanity of man. To give them motivation to live, so they didn't feel like there was no point in living. And even if there really is no point in living, I'd still want to anyway, solely because life is such a beautiful thing that should be appreciated and explored.

i remmeber i actually loved history back in high school. religion was definitly not made because of people not understanding something. religion has been made in order to control people, give them a relieve. because no one wants to believe that when you die, its all over. not even those who believe that.
one of the reasons why i think religion was made to control people, was because Lous xiv ( if im right) , banned lots of news papers, music, articles etc that were against the church.

Never said I studied the Bible. I said I've read it growing up. I went to classes after mass where they would teach us the Bible. I acknowledged what was in it, but never chose to willingly study it. The reason I don't study the Bible is because the verses can be interpreted in several different ways. It all varies based upon who's reading it, since in order to understand the Bible, you need to look into the deeper meaning and symbolism. Then it turns into "I think God means ____, I think God is saying ____." There's barely anything concrete in the Bible. A majority of it is just how you interpret the passages.

Also, don't try to come at me with this personal attack and drilling me with questions as if I'm claiming I know everything about the God you believe in, because I'll 100% admit I don't know everything. No one does for sure. I merely said believe in what makes you happy and motivates you to live. I never said what you believe in is wrong. I said I just don't choose to believe the same thing because _____. If you want to believe in it, that's 100% fine. I fully respect that. But don't start pushing all this shit on me to turn it into a wrong vs. right battle. That's not what religion is about at all.

That is a very good and respect vol question. The answers are in the bible.

Suffering was not part of Jehovah God’s purpose for mankind. However, the first human couple rebelled against God’s rulership, choosing to set their own standards of good and bad. They turned away from God and suffered the consequences. Today we are experiencing the effects of their bad choice. But in no way did God originate human suffering. The Bible says: “When under trial, let no one say: ‘I am being tried by God.’ For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone.” (James 1:13) Suffering can afflict anyone—even those who are favored by God.

To find out why God allows suffering, we need to think back to the time when suffering began. When Satan led Adam and Eve into disobeying Jehovah, an important question was raised. Satan did not call into question Jehovah’s power. Even Satan knows that there is no limit to Jehovah’s power. Rather, Satan questioned Jehovah’s right to rule. By calling God a liar who withholds good from his subjects, Satan charged that Jehovah is a bad ruler. (Genesis 3:2-5) Satan implied that mankind would be better off without God’s rulership. Remember that the rebels in Eden were not the only ones involved. Millions of angels were watching. (Job 38:7; Daniel 7:10) How Jehovah handled the rebellion would greatly affect all those angels and eventually all intelligent creation. So, what has Jehovah done? but that wasn't my question,my qeustion was, if god knew all this would of happen, the rebelling, the evil, the hellfire, why did he still choose to create us?
i didnt blame god or anyone for all of this, i just asked why would god create us if he knew all this would of happen?

if hell is punishment for bad people, and satan is the ruler of hell, doesnt that make satan a good guy?

That is why you need to study the bible with the right people if you would like the know the truth in it. If you go to church or some kind of christian school, for example, you won't learn anything from it. Only weird stuff (Im not here for a debate tho because I hate debates). The bible is very specific and accurate but many people claim that they understand it. Like the church leaders for example. They don't know anything about the bible but act like they know it and make their own rules and fictions. These so called 'christians' do the most awful things, hypocrites. An example is that the bible does not explain that all the humans go to heaven or that all the 'bad' people get punished forever in a painful heartless hell.. That fact was proven almost 200years ago by Jehovah Witnesses. Since that time many so called 'christians' made up lies about what is written in the bible. The bible stay the same but the words of the religious leaders changes.

Like all the other threads, believers want to provide proof god exists and non-believers want to provide proof that god doesn't exist.

Earth is hell, look at the destruction that is caused, the wrong doings that happen, all the suffering and pain, to me this is hell, only those who live through hell without being lead into doing the above get the chance of walking through the big mans gates which they call heaven.

i think that what we are living in is fake. They say that your life flashes before your eyes right before you die, what if this is it and it's going in real time. Think about it, we are re living our life through real time to see all good and bad we have done and once it finishes, we will die because it was a "flash" of our life. And Deja Vu occurs because we get glimpses of memories we already know have happened. ;)
