The Ebola Vaccine(s) (Snipers)

Snipers

Snipers are metaphorically the "ebola of fgunz" as quoted by several fgunz players. It's perhaps the most irritating thing when someone joins a TDM with a sniper and literally drains half your HP and all of your AP immediately.

My suggestions on how to deal with them

Increasing the time after a scope before you an shoot
The previous "nerf" was completely ineffective. Snipers are still overpowered and used practically as a rev with 100% accuracy and 3 times the damage.

Increasing the weight or adding negative HP/AP penalties _{(ty sonji for the idea)}
Similar to the 1 hit nades. Would make it much more fair when playing against different play-styles.

Adding a [NSNO] tag which prevents snipers from being allowed in the room (similar to the [EX] tag)
I don't understand why room-tag suggestions are being spurned in order for the next update. If it's because of there being an excessive amount, certain room-tags such as [KS] which practically no use uses should be removed.

Pretty much the only con of nerfing snipers
A handful of people saying they'll quit because of the nerf and a week later end up no-lifing the game again (yes fox i'm talking to you).

Comparing shotguns to snipers

The only argument I've seen is that "omg nerf shootgunz bcz yu can 3-shoot some1 witth them too."
You can 3-shot someone provided you're right next to them, that also makes you susceptible to also being 3-shot as well. Whilst using a sniper, regardless of your distance to your opponent (whether you're across the map or right next your opponent), you can still shoot twice and kill them.

I'd personally lean towards the room-tag option because it provides an option for the community instead of changing the entire mechanism of the snipers. Not to mention it's a lot easier.

Previous nerf was more than enough and i still think it was way too far. they coulda nerf the dmg of it not the QS.
If this suggestion is accepted, its better to remove snipe from fgunz ever or to nerf delay of sg as well.
there are so many qqers about this :P

you could have suggested this;

- completely remove snipers from the game as they are an extra weapons that were added to the game (the game would be pretty much balanced after that removal)

+ give refund to people who have bought donation snipers

That roomtag option wont help for all the trigger happy shotgun spamming CWers QQing about snipers that hit them from accros the map (still beats me how they shoot through all those walls without hacking though).

Though the damage might need some decreasing yes. However do not add another scope delay on top of it or a roomtag solely for banning out snipers (if that would be done there should be a roomtag for every weapon to ban them out).

It's impossible to satisfy both parties of the snipers "problem". We're not going to add any roomtags anymore though, neither are we going to remove snipers completely from the game.

I'm not convinced to do any of the suggested things in this thread.

Well dave, in order to make everyone happy you could create a no sniper room tag, just so that the people who dislike the snipers can create their own games with the no sniper game tag. That would probably be the only way to sort it because im my opinion snipers should be 2 hit shots which they are now

If we add such roomtag, I'm pretty sure it will be used in almost every room.
But like I said, we're not going to add any roomtags anymore in preparation for v8.

Or add more delay when zooming, so people can't quick scope on close range. On this way snipers will be for long range and shotguns will be for short.

Wasn't the same thing said about the [R] [IA] tags; -

"Make a TDM without either [IA] / [R] if you don't like them"

Sniper users can just make a room without the tag. Besides, why not trial it for a few weeks. I honestly doubt a lot of rooms would utilize the tags, especially considering half of the server wouldn't even be aware of the tag for another year...

EDIT: Also there aren't really two parties. The only consequence is a few people saying they'll quit because of the nerf and end up on the game a few days later as seen by the last "nerf".

Because we simply don't want more roomtags, easy as that.
We're also going to remove some of them which are never used in both normal games and events.

the fact you guys wont add this is retarded, most people who only use the V roomtag would also utilize this. Theres is only ever 1 or 2 tdms that are normal(not infected with a million room tags) and when a sniper comes in it normally kills the room. 99% of the people who play with just V wanna play the game the way it was intended to be played not this bullshit newgen version of having to 2 play like cod hiding in cover 90% of the time. Revs were always ment to be the "snipers of gunz" and fg has pretty much destroyed that.

I've posted this suggestion before.

[v] tag is basically ijji mode. Modify it to only allow ijji weapons and items. Such as shotguns, revs, kodachis, and whatnot.

It got denied, obviously. I don't think the snipers were a big deal as long as the [V] tag had been modified. But apparently that's too hard. This suggestion would satisfy almost everyone rofl.

I do actually support adding a new tag for no snipers.

Pretty much all weapons work that way already. First most of your AP goes down and a bit of your HP, then all of your HP once you're out of AP.

The fact that you know it will be used in nearly every room should be more than enough for you to understand that something needs to be done.

don't know how you guys could fix snipers then. roomtags was perhaps the only suggestion that would have been feasible;

-it gives the players an option as to whether or not they'd utilize the tag or not
-it doesn't change the entire mechanism of snipers
-it's simple to add
-there's already [SGO], [SNO], [EX] which limit certain play-styles. adding [NSNO] wouldn't be different to those tags.
-would satisfy 70% of this server
-wouldn't cause a sea of salty children to cry and threaten to "quit the server"

i honestly can't even think of a single disadvantage.

also, i'm not being biased. i've used 600 coins on donation snipers, i've used them quite a lot in the past but honestly, it's getting out of hand how overpowered they are.

the snipers are still op just because you can just wear a spray for the 2nd weapon and if you hit the 1st time with the sniper you can just spray the other person to death since he only has 70 hp left.

Only having it 1 bullet per clip could work too (so you got only 1 shot and then have to reload). Would make people think twice too before using the [r]-tag.

I think most of the people complaining about snipers and their perks / advantages cant even use them. so nerf right?

the only problem i have is when im in a [V] room and i get shot once with a sniper and im at 15-25 hp but im at 75 ap, maybe instead of nerfing and such just change the mechanic to take more damage from ap and less from actual hp

The thing these people dont understand is that, its about comfortability. We snipers find the Shotgun Spam irritating, spam spam spam - No Aim.

The previous nerf has done enough damage for us as it is.
