MAP: Asylum (wip)

Back again on Asylum since I cannot remember where I left it and I am working on this when I feel like to and might share it eventually.
The whole map should be more clean compared to the original one (working by x2 ; x128, x256, x512 and so on to it will be easier to fit textures, no stretching and stuff).
This also should get rid of glitches, lower map size itself (might help with fps?) and other stuffies.


Step 1: Import original map, so we can base the whole map of it

Step 2: First work out all the walls and add some depth in certain walls (no single walls on certain spots like red base)

Step 3: Work out the floors

Step 4: Work out objects

Step 5: Work out the ceiling

Step 6: Add new area's if needed/feel like doing so

Step 7: Textures

Step 8: Collision

Step 9: Lightmapping & spawns

Step 10: Testing time!

That's just a basic map drawing.
Mansion probably looks even smaller but in-game it's huge, don't judge maps by the draws lol.

Keep up the good work! Would love to see more, as you prolly know this map is mostly used for the Infected mode. Is there something on the map that will have any affect on Infected?

Nope really, unless I add an extra area to fight in.
The idea behind is to fix the quality of the map (remove bugs/glitches/fix texture work/lightmapping).

Easily doable if requested by the players.

Started working on the vent area, ill post some progress tomorrow.

Basicly finished all the walls including an extra hall way for hp/ap spawns (if needed a room or so).
Now ill work first on some smaller "object/wall" parts like pillars before I start on the floor :).

GG another narrow place (the hallway) to camp xD

(just saying no hate, it's cool whatever you improve with this map. At least this hallway has corners).

Do we get some in-game screenshots once it's all done? ;)

i think u should add that too because of infected asylum...
i mean if someone spawned there and the zombie was with him he will die fast, but the way i added will let him run and survive

I like the idea, but I never intended to add player spawns in the hallway, guess I could make the hallway connect :).


Meanwhile an update on progress;
Some extra walling, new staircase in the back and worked on some flooring.

great job on the staircase looks good , the second picture looks like a maze to me :o.o

Btw if this map is done , it will come in the next patch ?

I remember there was 1 stair there, and 1 wall where you need to wallpost on to get on or any type of wall-climbing, why there are 3 stairs now?

It was a longer staircase with a corner which feels iffy.

The red line is the kitchen right, the black lines are the walls that are missing there (if that's the kitchen xD). So a new room is gonna be add to the MAP?

*sigh* That is the room yes, I did not add those walls that are originally there yet.

LOL this is horrid. Waste of time and not worth it, no1 will play it tbh. It needs diff colors and textures and a better diagram of what is actually going on in the map and where everything is at. Stick to the forums mate, deving aint ur style. Just some CnC for ya dont take offense.

It is not textured, the colours you look at now are just for me to see the difference between the wall and the floor.

Lmao, the map is used almost 24/7 for infected, so it's worth it Stephan ;)

Just blow him away with some screenshots once you're done xD

Wanted to check a part of the map textures (ofc the texture isn't balanced), I am going to work a ton tomorrow on it cause I feel like to (this image is just a test preview).

Knowing pirate those are the lockers from the previous post.

Added some tables to start with some object placing :).
I'll post a screenshot once I finished the elevator (probably at the end of this weekend).
