Hey Freestylers, it's patchday!

This patch consists of changes, bugfixes and quality-of-life improvements.

FGunZ PATCH // 11 JUN 2019

• Improved loading screen
  
• Some changes to make the login / map more pretty
  
• Added damage counter for spectators (this also works in replays) - shows damage counter of the person you are spectating
  
• Added AFK auto kick for Training / Team Training (and all other gamemodes)
  
• Changed AFK auto kick timer from 10 minutes to 5 minutes
  
• Added automatic hourly online message (You have been online for x hours)
  
• Updated /stafflist command to not list hidden staff and adjusted the message accordingly
  
• Changed Team Deathmatch default round timer from 10 minutes to 3 minutes
  
• Changed Team Turbo default round timer from 10 minutes to 3 minutes
  
• Changed Assassination default round timer from 10 minutes to 5 minutes
  
• Changed Capture-The-Flag default timer from 20 minutes to 60 minutes
  
  
• Kick System Changes
  
• Show name of the person that started the kick
  
• Now 80% of the players (instead of 66%) have to agree for the user to be kicked (except if there's less than 5 players in the room)
  
• -> These 2 changes should reduce the amount of unfair kicks ingame. Changes will be made if necessary.
  
  
• Auto Team Spawn Switch
  
• Added optional auto team side (spawn) switching for team-based gamemodes (you can find this option at stage settings, once you have created the gameroom)
  
• -> OFF: Disabled
  
• -> Every Round: Switch sides (spawns) every round
  
• -> Halftime: Switch sides (spawns) once half of the total rounds have been played (= Halftime)
  
  
• Shotgun Spray
  
• To figure out what the best shotgun spray / pattern is, we have done some temporary experimental changes so you, the players, can test and adjust different shotgun sprays / patterns and tell us which one you like the most, which will then become the official shotgun spray
  
  Here is how it works: We have added 6 different shotgun spray patterns which you can enable by writing SGTEST followed by a number at the beginning of the room name (e.g. SGTEST4 Let's try a new spray)
  
  SGTEST1 = Default Ijji Spray
  SGTEST2 = Modified Shotgun Spray (Pellets are more likely to land in the center)
  SGTEST3 = Semi-Static Spray I ('controlled randomness')
  SGTEST4 = Semi-Static Spray II ('controlled randomness')
  SGTEST5 = Semi-Static Spray III ('controlled randomness')
  SGTEST6 = Fully Static Spray
  
  (The tag has to be at the beginning of the room name, otherwise you are using the default FGunZ spray)
  
  
• On top of that, we have added an optional modifier which allows you, the players, to modify the size of the spray by adding L, XL, XXL, XXXL to increase its size (e.g. SGTEST3XXL Let's try a new spray!)
  
• Our favorites were SGTEST3XL, SGTEST4XL, SGTEST5XL, SGTEST3XXL, SGTEST4XXL, SGTEST5XXL when we tested this internally with the staff team
  
• -> We hope this helps you and us to find the best possibly shotgun spray for FGunZ

if a player has 1-2 friends that would vote no for him, he could never get kicked in rooms of up to 15 players (which is above most rooms nowadays..).

Thanks for the update, so as a personal favourite and the one i feel grants the most consistent dmg at certain ranges i would say SGTEST3XL was pretty much perfect for how i like to play, it also deals such little dmg at long range that hopefully it'll bring other weapons back into the normal rotation IE: revs/pistols or people will start playing hybrid again giving the game a bit more variety in matches

In rooms with 10-14 players, he needs at least 2 friends to vote no. 1 friend isn't enough. In a room with 15 players he'll need at least 3 friends to vote no (as 12 YES votes would be enough to kick him, which means that if him + 2 friends vote no, he'd still get kicked).

That's correct. You can now take screenshots of the person that started the votekick on you and report if necessary. Because if votes are repeatedly started for the wrong reasons (e.g. to repeatedly sabotage your weekly competition) the user that started those votes may get punished for it.

I tried all of them earlier in-game with CoffeeTalk.

SGTEST3XL is the best after trying it out in duel. The pattern is consistent and fair with the range damage.
No random far PBs like what's happening now.

Could you elaborate why you chose to change the default round timer for TDM and TT from 10 to 3 minutes instead of 5 like you did with Assassination?
I think 3 minutes might be too short but maybe this will need some time for players to decide if the 3 minutes is enough or that perhaps 5 minutes would feel and fit better into the game.

The only time staff use p-kick are in Events, if you experience it anywhere else you should report that person or talk to him in private to hear his/her reason.

3 minutes seems to be fine even in 32 player rooms. Anything more than that in big rooms just leads to camping/hiding/running. 5 minutes in assassination is reasonable because people have to play defensively to an extent and guard the target.

Overall, nice patch with some changes that were long overdue!

Know enough, sounds like a good change overall to me.

These seem like good things. Vote percentage is probably a touchy thing, but i'd doubt there is a perfect solution so at least you can see who started it now. More choices seems to = more happy players.

So we are letting some randoms decide what shotgun spray there will be? I don't like that idea, just because they can't play with shotguns properly doesn't mean we have to change the whole spray pattern. The people who actually cw are not coming online to test '' spray patterns '' for shotguns. So, garden players and training bots will decide for us?

I can vouch cw players might have a 'better' opinion. Purely because they play it more competetively and basically are better at the game. I guess though we should try to get a spread both type of players can enjoy

My friend and I did a short test of the new sprays and we think SGTEST1,SGTEST1L and SGTEST4XL, SGTEST4XXL are probably the best so far. Might give an accurate conclusion later on with more testing.

Tested a bunch with Osama and we concluded that SGTEST4XL is the best option.

SGTEST1 - This was just bad, theres a reason why we upgraded from this.

SGTEST2 - Although the pellets are now more centered, its still rng. It still allows for random far pbs. It actually allows for even harder far pbs which, shouldnt be a thing.

SGTEST3 - Seems static to me. This was our second choice, but this also seemed like the spread that was tested a while back. Where i said its too unbalanced and would only widen the skill gap even more. Since static was already thrown out the other time, we didn't bother picking this one.

SGTEST4 - A combination of static and rng spread that isnt too randomized and large. The center pellet are tight so they stay relatively same which is good because from close range you cant miss pbs and from far you will only deal damage if you are accurate, which should be the case.

SGTEST5 - A similar version of 4 but the center pellets are wider.

SGTEST6 - This is basically SGTEST3 but worse.

L - Too tight from close to mid range.
XL - The only reasonable option that works well with close, mid, far range.
XXL - It's doable from close to mid range. But it gets stupid from far range, too large.
XXXL - This shouldnt even be an option.

Did you guys consider SGTEST4XXL ? The XL version sometimes feels too strong in longer ranges, I dont feel like getting 3 shotted unreasonably hence the shotguns damage should be decreased (speaking as if XL is chosen) in order to balance it with other weapons because shotguns are ridiculously OP in my opinion.

Exactly. Besides, dropping the whole SGs damage by 1 is necessary I guess. Else, playing with 10 damage SGs is more like landing truck shots, we gonna be hitting way too hard.

I’ve played that for a straight 2 hours with Yasen, It felt kinda choppy for us, we hit a lot of shots and PBs weren’t registering incessantly, we just can’t judge that correctly, was it actually an anti-lead issue or it’s that spread itself ?
However, SGTEST4XL felt much enjoyable and decent. But again, dropping SGs damage by 1 is still an important step to do in case we gonna apply that spread.

We’ve tested all damage stats, and as I stated before, during the SGTEST4XXL session, shots were sorta wrack. I’d actually go with SGTEST4XL for a real decent skillful shots and neat damage registration, in case we applied SGTEST4XL, the following point should be taken into consideration:

- Regarding the balance, I don’t think dropping the WHOLE shotguns damage by 1 would be a wise step, getting rid of the current 10 damage stats is sage enough imo. Else, everyone will just be hitting HELLA hard with them 10 damage shotguns.

Despite the spread issues, I doubt anti-lead got somewhat of a role playing in that damage thingy. I’m requesting to have a look at the anti-lead’s performance, I guess it needs some improvements or something, ain’t sure about that, it’s just what I concluded while testing the spreads, but I hope I’m wrong so we don’t whine over another new issue that may dissatisfies the community.

Last but not least, can I have an illustration photo of how the current hitbox looks like ?

There's nothing wrong with the Anti-Lead. It's the shotgun spray pattern.

Anti-Lead just sends the damage depending on the amount of pellets you hit. It doesn't transfer each pellet seperatly, it transfers the hit as a whole.

If you hit and deal 0 damage then you could say something's wrong with the Anti-Lead, but as long as you deal any dmg when hitting (even if it's just 10 damage) then the Anti-Lead is doing it's job just fine. There's only 2 cases: hit->damage and hit->no damage (which shouldn't happen and doesn't happen). There's no inbetween such as "oh I hit but only dealt 10 damage due to Anti-Lead". Nope. That's just the shotgun spray and shows you didn't hit many pellets.

This is the default GunZ hitbox that's always been in GunZ (Ijji, Aeria, etc.) and that we use too (we haven't modified this in any way, it's 100% vanilla/default):

Wish this was the case, but the AL still has flaws, I've noticed 0 DMG shots many times, once 3 times in a row.
I stream from time to time, and those are probably somewhere in the VODs, but it would take too long to dig up. In any case the issue does still happen (no AE issues, maybe there is some packet dropping, not sure), however it's still much better than it used to be.

A very bad case of multiple packet losses would be the reason indeed. Shouldn't happen and it never happened to me with our current Anti-Lead - but 0 dmg due to very very very bad packet loss is not 100% unavoidable here (99.8%, 99.9% yes - but not 100% due to performance reasons). Example; Let's say it happens to 1 of 50 players (which is 2 of 100 -> 2%) and for those players it doesn't happen all the time, it only happens on say every 50th shotgun shot (which is 2 of 100 -> 2%); 2% of 2% is 0.04% which means it works 99.96% of the time.

When's the last time this happened to you though? We've constantly done small changes and adjustments (sometimes without notice) to further prevent cases like yours from happening.

However, as explained in my previous post, there's no such thing as 'half damage' or 'quarter damage' in our Anti-Lead, because pellets aren't sent seperately. It's either full damage (for the total amount of pellets you hit) or none. Just to clear that up because that's what some people were thinking when they dealt like 10 or 20 damage. - It's not related to Anti-Lead. Just the randomness of the shotgun-spray.

That would be SGTEST1, but as it's very random / luck based it's not really good. Pellets land anywhere in a big circle. FGunZ is currently using exactly that, but with 20% decreased size of the circle to make it a little more accurate.
