and the account you used in-game wasn't vip as well?
If you want to play VIP events then you join with your VIP account, not with your alternatives. If they would have noticed this in the middle of the event you would have been kicked(disqualified) anyways.
So consider it a loss no matter if you would have made it or not. Next time go on your VIP account to play VIP events.
