Dev Blog - FPS Mode (poll)

So, first I wanted to introduce myself to all of you, I'm Jetman. I used to be a serious GunZ Gladiator, then one day switched it up and decided to start coding. Looking forward to coding for FG & doing all I can to make this the server you want it to be. Now, onto business:

I have created my own version of FPS, it has things like fall damage, stamina usage (for running). Fall damage doesn't do a great deal of damage of course, and the stamina is used by holding shift (similar to how it is currently, but lasts longer and requires a slight recharge period). I was wondering which of these options you guys would prefer:

1. Change over to using stamina & fall damage
2. Change over to stamina & fall damage while making FPS a normal gametype
3. Don't change the current gameplay, but make it a gametype.
4. Don't change anything at all.
5. Other(specify what you want)

Shit. I probably should've asked this before I voted, but what exactly would the FPS gametype consist of ? Because when I think of FPS gametype, once you add the fall damage and stamina to the roomtag, I pretty much picture slapping on an [FPS] tag on any ordinary DM, TDM, Training, or Team Training room. Have you thought of any extra ideas that would make it different from what I stated earlier ? Or would you just eliminate the [FPS] tag and make it a full on gametype ?

Nonetheless, I do agree though about the fall damage and the stamina. Excellent idea !

great ideas, the fall damage is a tiny but useless on gunz in my opinion, also would the stamina usage work, say if i was in glad and somebody is doing nothing but blocking because they have stamina, then their stamina runs out, they can block but for only the ammount of time you block while dbf'ing, would that be possible?

FPS makes it so you can't wield a katana, kodachi, dagger, etc. Unless they change it of course :P

i think it should be a game mode option, like [r] or [ia]. i dont think they should change the whole game. unless im reading this wrong.

Would like this to be a gamemode with only limited maps (as you can't navigate through every map with FPS-tag because there are unreachable places when you're not able to wallclimb)

Well, it's already a gametype, so that makes it different, although that can easily be changed to just be a roomtag as well. Stephan suggested to me that it be setup to where each player is given the same equipment to make it fair, is that something you guys would want or no? If so, doing it via gamemode would probably be best.

Well, lets see what the poll shows, if it shows people want it to be its own gamemode, then possibly some new maps could be made to accommodate your request.

hes just anal about everyone wearing military set during FPS mode, we have [V] for equal hp/ap

I think there should be one melee option with two attack types, throw like you said which does less damage (2 per life) or stab, and stab is very short range but does a ton of damage like in other fps..

also like the idea of limited/vanilla (or new hhh) maps ^^

I voted option 2, i like the idea of a new gametype thats completely different in a lot of aspects. maybe everyone has a range of weapons to scroll through, instead of 2 weapon slots..? (idk if possible)

or when they enter the match they choose kind of like classes from a list, if they want to change have to exit to gameroom and re-enter (also not sure if possible lol)

Umm, im not sure if the camera's code could be modified to that extent or not tbh. Option 3 means it'll be a gametype. Deathmatch, team deathmatch, duel, etc. they're all gametypes. So, if option 3 were chosen, i'd modify the code over to be like that instead of a roomtag.

Obviously quests would be harder in fps mode. Maybe making some quests able to be done in FPS mode, and give a higher xp/bp reward?

That is kind of the idea, but then with the angle we have now.

Setting it as a roomtag would open the variety, of you made it a gamemode it'd be that one and that one only. If it's a roomtag, you could make many different events, like
idk, (lets just say) DM with [FPS]. Or (I know this wouldnt go well but) dodgeball woth [FPS]. I'm not trying to brainstorm events here but you catch my drift.

Military - Blue team
- Fenrir set
Weapons (random diced each round)
- Rusty dagger (no wallpost, no elunge / only stab + wall hang)
- Rusy shotgun
- Renard (smg)
- Nico R2 (rifle)
- SAW M249 (mg)
- Minic 567 x2 (revs)
- Raptor 50 (pistol) > secondary gun

I like this.

Adding an idea, it'd be cool if you can pick up weapons in this game mode, I see a certain dev app who has a DropGunGame thing *cough* It'd be cool if that went with this.

Maybe a button with which you can choose your type of gun you want and you get the lvl1 item of that?

No not a button, but yes their the lowest dmg items in the game.
My idea was to have a dice like RFD, but with these items to keep it somewhat fun instead of a one sided match.

I think it would be nice to make it a gungame-type game, once you get a kill you progress a weapon, but in fps mode.

I would like you to add an " Original gunz " mod. Meaning all sg's are 1000 delay and about 8 dmg. no pills. only med kits. basically how original gunz was. It would be a cool mod to have.
