The spikes are not fixed yet, Linear88 is having a very hard time finding the bug that causes this.
But we can tell you, that random spikes will not appear, if you...

That is not fixed yet. Linear88 is working on it.

Update: A patch has been applied to fix small bugs, balance several items, lower the HP/AP and raise the exp rate.
Everything should be more fair and balanced now.
