This has been discussed many times before with the Staff team, I don't see anything wrong with people who want to have their post thanked mostly on giveaways.
I guess that's something they want to receive in return for making the giveaway, I'm against making such a rule.

it is called a giveaway for a reason tho. You give you shouldn't /force/ others to thank your post.

However, you can always ask for it,

They can kindly ask people for a thank, as they did make a giveaway, and farming thanks is just sad imo because theres a reason the thank function was added, and its not so that you could farm them by giving away coins that you (most of the times) paid for. if youre only going to make a giveaway to farm thanks, then just dont do it.
