    I faced the same issue a few weeks ago even when all my permissions remained unchanged. Gunz.exe wasn't allowed to write to system folders. Adding the FGunz client folder (where gunz.exe is present) to my Bitdefender exceptions, and subsequently removing it again, fixed it for me.
