    Sup, in this thread I will reveal the ONE THING I still dislike about V8.....

    The interface, logging in looks like you are entering a nightmare, its gloomy and dark, it doesn't have a welcoming feeling. It could be improved! You can change the color and make the lobby panels transparent and add a picture of some sort of gunz map(s) and gunz 2 characters!

    Here is an example of what I mean:


    V8 lobby...... dark, gloomy, dull hard on the eyes, especially the login screen


    V7 lobby! A bit better, the login screen is so interesting, it pops with bright colors!


    CSGO lobby... bright colors, pops, easy on the eyes, best lobby ever....


    In graphical design, there is a rule. No dark static colors, no static colors and no constant colors. Dynamic colors, bright colors, and landscape is the key to a good interface... Look at any game, even one that has a dark interface, it doesnt have STATIC colors and even the panels dont have CONSTANT STATIC colors !

    I never heard of the rule that darker colors are not tolerated. There are many games of which their interface is dark. I personally like the v8 interface more than the v7 interface.
    It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready.
    I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything.
    There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now.
    And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.

    I personally like it as well, but it might need a little tweak

    For example look at this LoL lobby, its dark and looks amazing, but it has no static colors, what I mean by ''static'', everything is gradiented and everything blends in, unlike gunz (all) lobbies where the majority is one color.


    The panels should be more transparent and under those should be a picture of gunz stuff thats just my opinion though, BUT all popular games blend as many textures together as possible to make the interface look like it has some life in it.

    I'll say the same Dave replied before, never heard of SUCH rule especially since I'm a GFX designer, but now let's come to aim something important, you're comparing Gunz interfaces with LoL, Gunz is a dying game that we all do our best to keep alive, how would something like making interfaces similar to LoL would help Gunz to live without the fact that it would be said at least 10 times per day "Those interfaces look like LoL's" "You copied LoL's interfaces" and bla bla bla, can you explain a bit your idea of a such a dumb rule please? Clearly at my 21 yo I'm a dimwit for not knowing such thing.

    the thing is games rip off of each other all the time and it doesn’t seem like they get much, if any, heat for it. game developing from my pov seems like an art and never will be perfect. if it works, it works.

    ot: I love the v8 interface a lot... and it is very functional.

    The thing is that people of these days notice and start all the time saying "You copied this from that" "this is a copy" and in the end not even original ideas come up now because people always finds something that looks like from another game(Though nowadays no games copy gunz cause it's way too old already).

    This is very true, don't know what the other guy is talking about. Game designers copy each other all the time or rather 'borrow' elements from other sources because frankly, it's much easier and a lot cheaper. If you look at most game trailers/concept art (even for AA+ games), you'll start to notice a constant familiarity in themes; it's solely because originality is expensive. The same holds true for pretty much most areas of game development, right down to even the game mechanics; if something is known to work well, it'll probably be recycled a bunch of times until it's worn out.

    You could get into a whole separate conversation on the boundaries in what defines 'stealing' ideas and what constitutes 'being inspired' and the whole ethical dilemma that comes with each. Point is, borrowing ideas is extremely common in game development and even encouraged.

    Also @Amers, dark mode would like to have a word lol. I swear dark mode themes are found in pretty much every site/app now. I wouldn't say brighter colours necessarily means better, especially considering apps like flux aren't really compatible with games.

    I have been trying with different layouts, brighter colours like white/blue and more shooter alike design (cannot fine the blue/white version though..)








    What I made for S1lent in the past (does not run anymore, was more for fun).
