Regarding our decision, the user was punished because he is a well-known troll who takes things too far. So here is a clearer reason as to why his punishment is the way it is.

MusturdCake, you have been punished because you broke our rules and regulations, see here

He's been punished because he failed to respect all staff members and players.
He has been punished because he failed to adhere to our rules of not harrassing players.
He has been punished because he failed to adhere to our policy of settling disputes in open areas. (forum and in-game)
He has been punished because he failed to follow our simple, simple rule of not provoking others. In all spectrums, actually: staff members and players.

The user has been trinkling on the fine-line of being muted or temporarily banned, several times for that matter:

Those are only people that have decided to put the effort in to have the user muted.

We as GM's are to take into account the overall character of a reported user, (i.e if someone who always spikes and doesn't do anything about it constantly gets reported = they have a higher chance of being given a harsher punishment than someone who doesn't.) We login to the game and notice players who seem to misbehave and take mental notes. Obviously if the evidence isn't provided in a report made against a certain user, we only have the ability to punish adhering to the submission. And that is subject to change if a staff member has witnessed a user's foul conduct and decides to cater it into the punishment.

It may seem unfair, and it is not a perfect system. But it is not unfair under any circumstance in this scenario.
The mute will stay, and it will not be reverted. If any other appeals/harassment occur on forums/in-game about this case by the user, they will be furtherly punished.

I hope that cleared everything up.
