    Hmm. Although the character name is not taken, have you tried other character names?

    I checked many, I always get the same error. also i have reinstalled the game (didnt remove existing folder) and this did not help either.

    One of your deleted characters for some weird reason still had a CharNum value attached to it. CharNum is -1 for deleted characters and 0, 1, 2, 3 for existing characters. It's used as the order of which character is displayed first in the character list.
