Yesterday, I was able to fix the issue, but only to run into another one.
I clicked "launch" and it started the game. It loaded just fine. When I got to the server selection screen, I typed in my user/pass, clicked on the server, and clicked connect. As soon as I clicked connect, the game force closes and that is all.
I tried again, but this time when I clicked "connect," I got this message.

I had the same when I installed Microsoft Security Essentials.
I fixed it by disabling the real-time protection of it.
It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready.
I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything.
There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now.
And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.
