    hmmm..
    1.try running gunz.exe as administrator (right click gunz.exe > Run as administrator),
    2.maybe, right click gunz.exe > properties > compatibility tab > Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (service pack 3), also tick the Privilege Level: Run this program as an administrator, click OK, then start gunz.exe
    3.if doesn't work then try updating your videocard and directx :|
    hmm..........
    4.if doesnt work either then I guess u could try opening, config.xml at the gunz folder and change "<SHADER>true</SHADER>" to "<SHADER>false</SHADER>" then save, tho' I dun think the problem is the shader alone :|

    since it couldnt open/find your videocard settings or something
    Vertex Shader isn't supported
    can't create device
    cant init display
    error init RInitD3D
    goodluck? o_o;

    If none of these work, try to delete config.xml (this solved the problem for SOME)

    wut? u have an extra config packed into the client? o.o'
    (Gunz cant really run without a config file, even if it auto creates a new one it then it gonna have all options ticked and gunz gonna be something around(or even over) 1GB RAM... oh well... w/e u say :|)

    Config.xml is a file that contains your preferences of ingame settings.
    Sometimes they are messed up and won't let you launch the game.

    It should be in the rootfolder.
