Eh, Ryze got a few buffs, so going straight mana isn't as beneficial. Running numbers on it, Merc Treads, Tear, RoA, Chalice, Frozen Heart, Banshee's, is the best base build, upgrading Chalice for Grail and then upgrading your Tear into an Archangels. It maximizes your damage output with little bits of ap (he got .2 ap ratio buffs to all his skills, and I think .1 ap ratio added to his Q?) and gives you all the highest mana items and gives you a window of CDR for spamming skills for filling your tear up faster. Also, tanky. Tanky Ryze is the best Ryze.

The one in my team claimed to be very pro, but imo he suicided too many times.
The Rengar from their team was pretty easy to kill (about 3-4 Q's from full life) so.. so far those were my first 2 Rengars iv'e seen so dunno about that new champ.
