Your using ~32% (31.767898238574336883722302540348% to be exact) of the available space, 30% is (in my personal opinion) an acceptable loss rate, you should find a way to use the texture space more wisely.

Also, multiple parts could easily be collapsed on one another for further resourcefulness. (Just to add in, any texture size over 256x256 will just be wasted ingame o.o)

As for the model itself, I would have personally added a glow effect to the blade with extended parameters, which would of given a better appearance ingame, but meh, what do I know. (Do remember, you need to have a mesh behind a model with extended parameters for it to show up at all. o.o)

Its more of an ice element now, but thats cool as well x]
Change the handle, since it looks like its some rubber gymnastic handhold material or something like that...

If you weld your UV's in your UVW map you can improve the texture flow, and as told above, save up texture space / increase quality or decrease filesize x].

With this method you are using, you will either have textures that are compacted down (the reverse of stretching) or overlap o.O

I don't see how this would overlap, and I'm not sure what you mean by "compacted down". This isn't the optimized way, but it gives a good view of the point

I did this in blender because it is easier to see overlapping faces. The concept is the same.

    Benefits: Compact/ No Horizontal Stretching
Benefits: No Horizontal Stretchin/ No Overlapping Faces
    Benefits: Compact/ No Overlapping Faces
    Disadvantages: Overlapping faces
    Disadvantages: Bulky
    Disadvantages: Stretching of Horizontal Faces
    First Unwrap Method
    Second Unwrap Method
    Third Unwrap Method
