Gimp makes you able to make cheap/sometimes good looking sigs, i learned that in 1 minute, its just trying things, but even i still looking for a photo shop tutor i do think photo shop is way more better since it makes you able to do way more things.

GIMP is alot more confusing to use than photoshop, because the interface is so unorganised.
GIMP is free, though. If you don't want to be a goody two shoes and get photoshop for free- GIMP is your best friend.
