Orginally It was meant to be black and white until I hid the layer and noticed it looked pretty nice with colour. So I add some photo filters and did a lot of other changes and got an alright version.

I would say to use Dodge, or Burn...I forget which, to make the middle of his face brighter, and to blur or smudge the edges of the render to make it more smoother.
