I like the first one better, simply because of the more harsh blacks and whites, however they're both outstanding * - * gj man!

Monochrome is when you have only 2 colors, usually #FFFFFF and #000000. Shading is done (usually by dots) being closer or further together. Crosshatching, for example, can be used for monochromatic images as well....
