I'm aware that there was another thread made with the same issue within the last couple of days, disabling my antivirus did not allow me to log in, nor did any suggestion from the FAQ help me.

My launcher updated to the newest version of fgunz and I was able to play fine for a day. When I came back the next day, it gave me the "Patching has failed" error.

I reinstalled fgunz and tried launching it, still no dice.

If possible, also whitelist http://cdn.fgunz.net/* and http://fgunz.net/* in your anti-virus and run everything as administrator.
It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready.
I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything.
There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now.
And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.

I can't whitelist with my antivirus, shame. Everything is being ran as administrator. I've made exclusions for both the launcher and gunz.exe, I've got the slightest as to why this just stopped working out of the blue.

Remove Gunz.exe & Gunz64.exe and see if it works.

Things are starting to somewhat piece together, trying this now.

EDIT: I can't remove Gunz64 because it doesn't exist in the folder. Looking at the log it couldn't download. This is probably my issue.

It can connect to the patch server but something is stopping you from downloading the files. Probably still your anti-virus.

Ok, so I added both of the URLs you told me to add as exclusions, and I got a little farther. (it downloaded gunz64, but could not rename it.)

Could not rename file error means that some software on your computer is preventing it from renaming.
You can try to rename it yourself.

Try to change the compatibility to windows xp or whatever.

In the end, playing legit pays off.
