Hello Freestylers!
Before posting a thread about 'failed to initialize DirectX' please read this thread, this should be your full guidance towards fixing your issue!
That error occurs mostly with either
- New Laptops/PC's
- New GFX Card (VGA)
- Formatted PC's
- General malfunction within a file
Method 1: Deleting Config.xml
This is a very simple method, all you need to do is go to where you downloaded FGunZ to
(i.e, C:/Program Files/Freestyle Gunz Version 7)
And delete config.xml
Launch the game
Didn't work? Don't worry, several methods are here to help you out
Method 2: Formatted PC/Updating drivers/GFX Card
People don't recognize after formatting their PC/Installing a new GFX card that they need to update their drivers and install/upgrade DirectX11 in order to fix it
To do that simply go to
Start > type in search box 'dxdiag' > press Enter
It shall pop up a box like this
All you need to know is the System Manufacturer and System Model of your own PC
Go to google and type in the search box
'[YOUR SYSTEM MODEL ONLY TYPE HERE] drivers download'
Open the website related to your system model and download the drivers off
Save it to your desktop and launch it
Next step is to extract them, the folder should be named (for example as w7 if you're using windows 7, should be noticeable) for your VGA
*Open your folder which you extracted
*Launch the exe file that's called 'Setup'
*Press Next
And it shall upgrade your GFX card as soon as you press next, when its done click Finish and close it
To update your DirectX

Download the file provided and do the same steps that were listed above
Note that if you're a Windows XP user then you're limited off to DirectX 9 and nothing higher, if you're a Vista/7/8 you should have DirectX 11 updated for you hopefully

Method 3: (CONTINUATION) NET FRAMEWORK
NET FRAMEWORK may be missing hence download it

To check you're up-to-date with everything go to
Start > type in search box Windows Upgrade and be sure that you've installed every update available for your PC

Go to
FGunZ folder > redist > pick either x86 (for 32-bit) or x64 (for 64-bit obviously)
Update it
Launch the game and enjoy!
