It has some interesting elements for sure. I like what you did right around the character. And the light source doesn't look bad either. The background is very plain and the blending could use more work. For the bg try to add depth by either using 3d or better shadow structure, MORE LAYERS. For the blending, don't think of it as color, color is fine, think more about the interaction your character in the sig has with the environment. Make sure that there is a better established theme.

Overall not bad, but there are still a few things to work on.
