You can't slash it, you just need to aim very well.

yea You Have To aim in any sprayer well You will own it

You can slash / shoot palmpoa's.
At the moment they cannot hit you with their magic hit due a runnable bug, though the Palmpoa/Palmpow bosses (mansion/prison/dungeon) can hit you with their ice skills.
