By your logic Götze is better than Messi because he has a world cup. Winning a world cup is a team prize, just because he hasn't won it means he can't be the best player ever. It's also a lot harder today than it was in Pele's time.

Not a big football fan but by this logic Bill Russell and his Celtic squad (NBA) would be considered the best player(s) in the world because he has 11 rings, and most of his teammates from that time have many as well. Jordan is well recognized to be the G.O.A.T of the NBA, yet there are many players with more rings.

O(soccer)T: The title says best player in the world. at this point in time he probably is, that's different than in the history of time. Right now at this point Messi>Maradona, cause he's old af. and in sports it's too difficult to compare stats from different era's, it just doesn't work.

it wasn't an opinion he said that like he is ranked second in the world but if you search on the internet Messi isn't second..

In terms of who's the best now, it's Messi hands down. But only if he won the world cup, he could've been up there with the greatest that's ever been because currently he is no where near them.
