I think his ego was hurt bruh. I know what you mean I really think that the image of his gf was shattered because of this and he's stuck at that moment.

First of all, in my pov, your brother should leave the girl. Why? Heck, if she can lie about it there are instances she would lie about something else too. That thing is a no joke. She shoulda said it beforehand.
