Yes or No?

I say no. The Death Penalty should not be legal. The state has no right to take away a person's life, basically it is the state convicting murder. Also, the cost of putting someone on death row is INSANELY expensive. Jury selections, trials, and long appeals all cost money to the state - this is taxpayer money. Keeping someone in jail would cost extremely less than keeping someone on death row. Also, the chance of a wrong conviction being sent to death. More than 130 people who have been on death row has been exonerated (proved innocent). Also, it IS a fact that the Death Penalty is "imperfect". A 2005 study found that the death penalty was three to four times more common amongst those who killed whites than those who killed African Americans or Latinos, while those who kill women are three and a half times more likely to be executed than those who kill men.
