I personally feel that there should be an additional hat in the bounty shop which is invisible (not xyz set kind of invisible).
It would be cool if we can wear a hat (which gives the usual stats) but it show our character's default hair.

It's just a fashion thing but it would be nice to have because if one were to opt for no hat at all, just to show their hair, they lose out in stats.

Sadly it doesn't work that way, it will display no hair at all if we'd make an invisible hat.
We could add the default hairs in the shop though.

It would be cool to have though especially when you switch gender but can't switch your hair style then.

Yep either that or just create an item under system.mrs but that item does not have a graphic/ animation.
I'm not a developer so i don't know if this will work, just hope my two pennies worth of knowledge might be of a help.

No need to call them wigs since other sets contain hair pieces so we can just add them as "black/brown/blonde/grey hair".

I think what should be done, is a face/hair change on fgunz net just like the gender one, and then there must be a way to have some kind of cloth that makes it look as if there was no clothes on, not exactly invisible, but just makes the game think that you have nothing on
