Ducking sniper shots.
Ducking rev/pistol shots.
Avoiding air-grenade hits (less damage taken/dealt).
Better stance for kodachis (considering you should actually be crouching when using them).
Another player position.

Instead of just asking "why" maybe use your imagination and think of reasons as to why this could be useful.

Suggestions that people come up with can't just be a "waste of time", clearly there's a reason behind each suggestion, regardless if it gets accepted or declined.
The only stance this game has is the standing up stance, it's the same basic one, nobody has ever suggested that players should be able to crouch, even if Dave doesn't want people to be able to PRESS crouch (such as c), there should be updated stances for things (such as when you equip kodachis).

Example: If you look at how the dagger stance is, you're practically crouching. So you can't bring up "useless animations" because if crouching is useless, then you're basically calling the design of the crouch in general useless.
