    Hey all,

I'm new to gunz and was wondering which of the two melee weapons was better for pvp. Kodachi or Katana? It appears the weight is the same in this version of gunz, so the main(?) disadvantage seems to be removed.

I've seen the guides for void step (using kodachi)+ chaining moves with it, but the people who post videos all seem to be using katanas. Any advice would be helpful-- thanks!

Kodachis have lower delays than the katanas, maybe that.

I was thinking that, but since PVP use of melee seems to be mainly BF/DBF/TBF and delay doesn't matter in the air, is it still a real advantage? If I'm wrong and ground melee is a thing, then somebody please correct me!

Katana has more damage, but I'm not sure if it's better/worse than the ground delay advantage the kodachi has

If you want TBF then, take katanas.

    wrong. kodachis have shorter delay.
I would take kodachis if you can slash rather fast making the enemy unable to do anything in BNB's as the kodachis have a shorter delay and can be used for ground slashes, but if damage is all you care about then take katanas.

Ground melee may still be a thing specially when you're just starting to play the game. But for someone who has played the game for a while, i think it just falls to preference. I, personally, like the butterfly animation of kodachis. It just gives a different feel, u know?

If you want to be able to insta easily, use sword. If you maybe need to move a little faster, go for kodachis.

If you're a glad using kodachis could be good since you can have faster void steps and ground slashes than a katana.

    Following vid demonstrates nicely:

I think that it's very up to what you are playing at the moment, if normal glads, I'd take the Kodachi's, for Insta / Glad Flips or any gun play Katana for sure.

I personally prefer kodachis because I like to do ground BF combos. The way I see it (my personal opinion):

    Katanas
    - Higher delay
    - Better for insta
    - Better for chaining
    - Better for BF and DBF
    - More variety in donation and event options (5 donation katanas; 5 event katanas)

    Kodachis
    - Lower delay
    - Better for juggling
    - Good for ground BF combos
    - Easier to TBF
    - Less variety in donation and event options (1 donation kodachi; 2 event kodachis)

Same weight and basically same damage.

It's all about personal preference and your fighting style honestly.
