don't blur the front, the eye will see a blurry sight when it's not focused, so when you look at the character she shouldn't be blurry at all, however the background will become blurry. fix that. and with all due respect, the text is horrible and the composition is too.
never place the render all right or left, it will create a lot of empty space and it's simply plain ugly for the eye.
Place the text near the render so it won't take the focus point away, and don't make it shiny or whatever, because well... for the exact same reason as before .-.
as for the file, I ALWAYS use .png, it's simply the best quality you can get for a reasonable amount of space.
