Hey,

My friend recently purchased 2x 4GB DDR3 1866MHz RAM for his (old) computer, he had 2x 2GB of DDR2 1333MHz(?).

His mobo: https://azerty.nl/0-849-80724/asrock...wins2000-.html (he has 2x DDR2 and 4x DDR3 slots)
RAM he bought: https://www.alternate.nl/Corsair/8-G...7?tk=7&lk=9334
After he purchased he asked us how and what, we found out the mobo only supports DDR2 and DDR3 up to 1333MHz. But underclocking should be possible?

When running the 2x2GB DDR2 RAM
Everything works correctly, his bios 'settings' for memory are like this (standard, auto) (phone photos, sorry):

We also updated his BIOS from v1.20 to v2.10 (latest one) ; didn't really give results, but had to try that.

When switching to 1x4GB DDR3 RAM
- No screen
- No beep
- Nothing...

When switching to 2x4GB DDR3 RAM
- 3 beeps (according to mobo wiki: 3 beeps = Memory failure in the first 64 KB of RAM: Likely a bad RAM IC)
- no screen
- keyboard off
- mouse lights up

Even though his mobo says it supports DDR3 up to 8GB total at 1333MHz it doesn't underclock itself from 1866 to 1333. Probably because the mobo is from like 2008/2009. Lovely old PC.
Anyone that can help him to underclock it? We can't access the BIOS while the DDR3 is active, only when his old DDR2 RAM is in he can access his computer and BIOS.

If you need more information about his PC, I'll ask him. And no, buying a new PC isn't an option :p

If nothing works, he can try to send the RAM back and buy something that will 100% work, suggestions are welcome (€60 max, 8GB preferred)
