I'm not sure if MSE really 'shuts off' when you tell it to. I use Avast, I sometimes have this problem because I'm going to assume that Avast sometimes doesn't let one of dll's inject into the client. Luckily when I tell Avast to go off, It goes off. ;3

I guess just keep doing the desktop method.

Well, MSE does turn off when I want it to, just it's more complicated for virus to figure it out, Avast failed on me with knowing whats viruses and what's not.
