You can't run the game from shortcut =[

1. Did you Try Uninstalling, and re installing the client?
2. Have you tried, disabling your firewall before running it?
3. Have you tried to add permissions in the security tab to Svchost.exe
4. (Last) If you hold ctrl + alt + Del is Svchost.exe taking up alot of process? ( if so you have a svchost.exe worm, which is removable, just google it )

Try uninstalling AVG or Norton if you have it.

Turn off your firewall and try it.

For Vista, change Compatibility Options to Windows XP SP2 and run as admin.

If none of that works, try after you turn UAC off.
