Hey guys, I just finished a few episodes of the new season and thought it would be neat if we shared first impressions of the shows. So yeah, spoilers alert.
Kuroko no Basket 2
Spoiler!Good continuation of season 1. No annoying flashbacks to previous season except for usual 'omg Generation of Miracle so amazin' , straight into action (or sports, whatever), new characters and more backstory for Taiga and another rival/friend. Not really a fan of sport anime but I like Kuroko no Basket.
Coppelion
Spoiler!I vaguely remember an OVA of this before and I think I liked it. This show however starts pretty weak, no backstory, I have no idea what's going on, no character introduction. All I know is theres been some kind of apocalyptic catastrophe and a city (or the whole earth? no idea) has been contaminated and 3 girls are immune to it. Oh, and it looks like they already killed off one of the 3 characters you get to know in this episode lol. Or she's just heavily injured.
Aside from that, the background art is really amazing and very well done. However, the character is really really really really really ruining it.
Outbreak Company
Spoiler!Otaku gets thrown (not really) into another world and Japan is trying to have a good relationship with that world for the sake of trade. So the otaku gets chosen by Japan to start a company in the other world and advertise Japanimation and everything related to that. This world, however, is fundamentally different from our world. It has magic, it's pretty old-fashioned compared to our world, is ruled by a monarch and has different races such as beastmen and elves. The otaku, now a CEO of his company, has a mansion and maids and has to deal with all strange this around him, but has to remain professional as a CEO which turns out to be pretty difficult cause he gets excited by all the new things around him (including elves heuehuheuhe). So far it looks pretty fun for a comedy. The art, both background and character, feels great and refreshing to look at. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a light-hearted comedy to see this season.
Yuusha ni Narenakatta
Spoiler! When I read the synopsis I got pretty excited, I was hoping for something like Hataraku Maou-sama! Yuusha ni Narenakatta starts of with tons of plot (read:fanservice). Our hero is on his way to the Demon King's Castle and fighting off his minions with his party. After spending his whole life on training to fight the Demon King, the Demon King gets killed before he even has a chance to reach his castle. The hero, having spent his life for nothing, has to adapt to a normal life, which is working out fine. Right now, he's working at a shop. Attending the shop, a rude person walks in and hands him a resume. Calling the manager, the rude person gets an interview and gets hired and our hero is supposed to teach the new employee the ins and outs of working at the shop. The new employee does a horrible job, not knowing basic things such as how to greet a customer andnot even knowing what a microwave is, touches one under repair and gets electrocuted and passes out. Our hero, trying to help the new employee, for some shitty reason decides to undress the employee and finds out she's a girl! And not a normal girl, she's the frikkin Demon Kings daughter! How original. After that scene it's basically more plot.
As for the art, it's nice. Don't really like the hero's design, he looks more like a support character than a main character. Personality is also normal, nothing special. After that sarcastic paragraph, I have to admit I'll keep watching this show cause it was entertaining (not good, but still entertaining). And yeah, it's nothing like Hataraku Maou-sama, so I was pretty dissapointed with that.
Nagi no Asukara
Spoiler!Oh god, this show made me feel shit. Really, really shit. Ever read a doujinshi about your waifu and she gets netorare'd? That kind of feel. So this is a romance, with a ridiculous setting. Basically there's 2 kinds of people, those who live on land and those who live in the sea. (Yeah, I'm not even kidding)
There's a couple of seakids who have to transfer to a landschool cause their seaschool cause their old school shut down. One of these seakids, a girl, basically an airhead, is slow as **** and gets caught in a fishnet on her way to school. (Nope, still not kidding). She gets fished up by one of her landschool classmates, and she falls in love with him. (Im serious here)
One of the other seakids, a boy, loves that girl and he basically has to watch her fall in love with another guy and despite his attitude is too much of a wuss to confess to her.
Oh yeah, did I mention that airhead gets cursed by a seagod and grows a fishhead on her knee? LOL, just kidding.
actually, not kiddin. deadserious here, she grows a fishhead on her knee
art was nice
Golden Time
Spoiler!Guy (guy #1) goes to university in a new city, gets lost on first day. Meets other guy (guy #2) who's also lost and they become friends. Girl comes along, who turns out to be the childhood friend of guy #2 and is obsessed with him and has a whole marriage and lifeplan thought out and even cancelled her to-be study in France to go to the same college as guy#2 but guy#2 tried to run away from her. Guy #1 wants to meet a nice girl and fall in love, meets different girls and starts having feelings for them (including obsessed girl) I guess.
Kill la Kill
Spoiler!what the ****
Kyoukai no Kanata
Spoiler!Chuunibyou, but this time with real fights and blood instead of imaginary.
Infinite Stratos 2
Spoiler!First ep was shit, filled with fanservice of Laura and Charles (woohoo, laura!). Ichika should die, Laura should be main character.
Sorry that some of em have a wall'o'text and others only have 1 line lol.
I'll keep this updated as I watch more shows. So, what are your first impression of the new season?
