Looks like you just threw red shit around a good render.
LOL. Ouch.
Tbh mate,it looks like hell.
Red background plus more redish brush eont do that as background.
Learn to use c4ds too and VERY USEFUL RULE: Never throw a brush on a layer after the render. Backpart looks way cooler than covering some parts of the render.
I would have to say try to match the lighting with the render. Unfortunately the render you used seems to have a light source from behind and your graphics with it don't match that light. I think that is what Charcoal meant in a way but didn't bother saying anything useful or nice. Typically most renders shouldn't have that sort of light on it I believe. Besides that, I think that background would of worked but you do need to find some way to kinda fill your work in besides the background and render. Make sure you can blend it all together. Find other colors too that work with your whole signature. In this case you where dealing with blood and maybe to better highlight that fact you should of used a background of a different color that goes well with the blood. To get a basic idea of good colors go with what maybe try using https://kuler.adobe.com/.
Hope that helps!

It looks way too simple. It's like you just put the render and then paint the background in red ;-; try watching some tutorial if it helps. Look at titanium, he's improving. all you need is train, train and train.
