In the lobby/gameroom you just gotta right click > whisper so it wouldnt make much of a difference.

instead of this they should consider improving the friend list and making an actual friend list with other options such as inboxes n sht ingame which would be good incase u miss a pm it would directly go to ur inbox so u can check it once u finish ur pew pewing just an idea I thought of now. :/
