Was considering a coolpix, only problem is that it's a point and shoot, not a DSLR. I'm mainly interested in photography as a side-hobby so maybe once a week on average?

I'm looking at the Canon EOS 400D or Nikon D40, they're quite cheap (around £150) and both a great introductory dslr. Do you have any other recommendations perhaps?
